I am also getting the iPhone version of Movie Collector. I already bought the desktop version and is now re-entering all my movies. It's just sad that DVDProfiler or Ken more specifically is alienating its iPhone user customers by being completely ignorant of their enquiries. This is bad business practice regardless of how good a product is.

Actually, you can just import your DVDP database into Movie Collector (without retyping every entry) and then sync that with clz (their iPhone app). That's what I plan on doing and it'll allow me to keep using DVDP as my main desktop software for tracking and entering my collection, while using Movie Collector as an in-between to export to my iPhone.

I may look into this as well. I have movie Rack already and this gives me a simple listing which most of the time is all I need, but having more details might be good. And if I do add the moview collector version then it would have to be that much better before I bought the dvd profiler version.

Whilst I don't want release date or even price information, I do agree that we should have some of the (promised) regular updates regarding the progress.

Thanks for those that reminded me of Movie Collector. I hadn't looked at that program for a while now, and definitely not since moving to Mac & OSX in late 2008, and was pleasantly surprised to see that they have a Mac option.

I'm going to put that demo through the paces and do a little bit more research, but getting a native Mac client, iPhone app, and iPad app... AND consistent developer updates both on their website and on Twitter, that may be enough to move me away from DVDProfiler.

Are there any major features the payed program has that the demo doesn't, or is the limitation to the library the only major demo restriction?

I am imagining that the coding is being difficult for iPhone / iPad.
And I too am dying for this app. But beating up Ken over it won't help.

Please realize that he likely wants it out there making him money too, right?

That being said, Hurry up and get it out there! (Kidding)

Abolutely mate, I think people are getting annoyed by the lack of feedback, not necessarily the lack of the app. At the moment we've heard diddly squat in over three months as to progress, how long does it take to pop into the forum and give a quick update as to general progress?

I too want the app to come out asap, but I'm willing to wait if it's going to be done right and I'll be happy to pay the going rate for it as well, but some feedback as to whether it's going to be out next week or next year would be welcome.

I haven't been here as long as most of you, and I agree they could give a head's up once in a while, but what if they did say "Next Week", or "Next Month" only to have something else suddenly hold it up? There would be a whole new forum of anger...

Now no word, or little word may mean they are constantly trying to resolve issues with the iPad / iPod operating system to release it sooner then later...which would work for me. Perhaps they don't want to be labeled as Blowing Smoke up our...well, you know what I mean.

And I am one that wants this program on my iPad Yesterday.

I mean it. I know it is Basically a catalog of our Collections, but it is a Favorite of ours here.
And to be able to take my Collection, which is so large now, to Best Buy or somewhere to look at new Movies? Sometimes I forget whether I have an older movie or not. With my iPad in hand? You get it, right?

Been away 2 weeks and hoped there would be some news.......

iPad CLZ looks okay but the desktop app is dire, and I've invested too much time into DVDPro on the PC.

One thing to remember the app has to pass Apples tech area. There may be some confidentially agreement that keeps Ken from saying anything right now. I don't know that for sure, just wondering.

Does anyone know the app Movie (€2,99) or Movie HD (€3,99; for iPad) from http://www.netwalkapps.com/ ?
Is it a good app???

***edit***
at now I saw that it was in the past Mymovie, and as Taro said before: "going by their faq, the import process is quite long and complicated." I agree!
So I'll wait, impatient , for the inveleos app.

We aren't asking for the app to be released now, next week, or next month... and no one is asking forva release date. The people here complying aren't doing it because we don't like Ken or are unsympathetic or don't understand the difficulties of a single developer jumping into a new platform. We get that. The issue is, four months ago we were told we'd get more info soon. Like you said about promising unrealistic release dates, why tell us you're going to give more info, if you're not.

The silence has also turned a thread about feature suggestions into this.

This is all a pointless discussion anyways, the only person that matters here is Ken, it's up to him how he handles information flow on development. He has chosen this way, we have to live with it.

I installed it and yes it is a bear.  A bit of trial and error, but in the end it took about an hour and I'm no computer ace.  The real trouble is the initial importing of the collection.  After that I just manually (and painlessly) add new profiles both to DVDP and Netwalk.  The app itself is quite good, but doesn't hold a candle to what I hope to expect from DVDProfiler.  Unfortunately there's too much silent running.

Late to this discussion because I had lost hope of an iPhone app being made given previous comments I've seen that it wasn't ever going to happen but I'm happy to see that it's at least being worked on.

In the meantime, what's the big deal with setting up a home screen shortcut to your online version of your profiler page, the format isn't ideal on mobile safari but it does the job, the only caveat being that you need to be on a data (or wifi) network to access the page.

I would have thought a better use of Ken's time would be to write a mobile version of the individual profiler web page, that way it would work on any mobile device with a data connection, which is most of them, iPad, Android, iPhone, Windows Mobile...

Agreed. It is possible to detect what browser is accessing the site, and then presenting the correct view. Many sites with an interest in mobile use do just that.

Not taking any licensing delays into account, my only worry is that by the time Ken is able to port to the iPad, many will have already downloaded an unrelated similar program. I have tried some, and even the one that uses data from DVD Profiler Online is lacking. (Buggy, takes forever, etc.)
Perhaps if Ken updates us with a "It is all set, just waiting for Apple to approve..." or the like.
I think that Ken wants this out there as much or even more than we do, and that is saying a lot because I really want this for my iPad. But think of the revenue that Ken (Invelos) is sitting on.
The way Apple makes developers work? I have no idea, but I am banking that DVD Profiler will be out as soon as humanly possible, and I doubt that Ken is the reason for the delay.

(Ken, just put my check in the mail...)
