If I would submit a new profile for such a title I would of course enter the japanese audio, cuz it is there on my player, without having to change a thing, as it is always region free.
add them: Include all audio tracks which are selectable via one or more of the following: * The player's Audio Track selection button | | | Last edited: by nimrod85 |

| Posted: | | | | Well, Region free players are becoming more standard as we speak, will be the same as what happened with region free DVD players. And if this would be my only Blu-ray player, it would be impossible for me to see which languages a region locked player does not show. So from my side of the globe, my contribution would be safe and sound. I can only contribute what I see cheers Donnie | | | www.tvmaze.com |

| Posted: | | | | There is no such thing as a "Region Free" Blu-Ray player. Unlike DVD players, Blu-Ray players don't do region checking. They only report that they are region A, B, or C. Since they can execute java and scripts from the disc, it is the discs that do region locking via java and other scripts.
There are region selectable players that allow the user to select region A, B, or C, which the player will then report to the disc's executable code and/or scripts. I have one myself. | | | 99.9% of all cat plans consist only of "Step 1." |

What has this to do about what audio options I see on my player ? If I put a disk into my player and I see f.e. 6 audio tracks, I would submit them. If another users player only shows 5 tracks, how can I know and how can I bother to take this into consideration ? cheers Donnie | | | www.tvmaze.com |

| Posted: | | | | This has nothing to do with the player. It's programming on the disc. AFAIK, Only Warner hides some tracks based on language settings, and this only applies to a handful of titles. Are you saying you see the Japanese audio on The Matrrix with the player language set to English? What kind of player do you have? |

| Posted: | | | | I am not sure why we are discussing this again. I though Ken made his intentions clear a year ago. Quoting Ken Quote: If the audio tracks are selectable from either the menu OR via the standard audio buttons on a standard player, they should be included as regular audio tracks. For the purposes of this, a "standard player" is one regionally coded to the profile's locality, set to the locality's default language. To me - This states that if I live in the US and have my region set properly, when I insert the disk I can contribute what ever tracks are evident from the DVD players audio selection. This is, assuming that I bought the proper disc for my region. Now assuming, this issue come up, because, the same disc is marketed in different regions, so if I am living in region B instead of region A, then my Player would be set to that region, and when I insert the disc, it would show me the tracks marketed for region B and not region A. The meaning of "standard player" can be twisted to mean anything you like, but if I by a Toshiba or Sony in the US I expect it to be set for the US, not Japan. And a PS3 is not a standard player, by any stretch of the imagination. I have 1 and know what that can do, aside from my Sony Set Top player. Any contribution that comes across presenting this, until Ken changes his mind, I will vote "NO" Charlie |

| Posted: | | | | I disagree. A PS3 is a standard player. It performs well, but doesn't do anything special as a Blu-ray player beyond have more storage space and faster load times. It's not like you'll get different results. |

| Posted: | | | | Ace,
I was not referring to a special title, my comment was made in general. it seems KEN has not taken the new batch of region all players into consideration. Those will soon become the standard worldwide, same as it did with DVD Players.
I have to check on the Matrix Blu-ray, as soon as the Ultimate Collection Blu-ray arrives here. But what I can tell is, that I own The Animatrix, and on the cover there are no japanese audio tracks listed, and in my player they are available.

| Posted: | | | | Last June Ken stated stated how to deal with Audio tracks that are only visible when a player is set for a certain locality. There are three messages from him on this page. The new Rules for Audio: Quote: Include all audio tracks which are selectable via one or more of the following:
* The disc menu * The player's Audio Track selection button * Autoplay when the content is started
don't mention the standard player bit he mentions in his messages. I just submitted a support ticket (hoping for a quick response, which i got in 15 minutes...Awesome!) to ask for clarification. I went this route because of new changes in at least one current submission trying to add languages (Audio and Subtitle) to a U.S. locality profile that are not visible in a machine in the U.S. I can see this leading to ping-ponging and i really don't want to see Audio/Subtitles listed that i don't have access to without changing my Blu-ray player to pretend it is in another country. The UPC in question (for me): Spoiler: (Select to view)085391-115212 The support ticket response was (and i'll paraphrase): Quote: The forum post is still valid and nothing in the rules contradicts it. So you can't change the player locality to something different from the profiles and then add th alternate localities info to the profile. Here is Ken's post (emphasis is mine): Quote: If the audio tracks are selectable from either the menu OR via the standard audio buttons on a standard player, they should be included as regular audio tracks. For the purposes of this, a "standard player" is one regionally coded to the profile's locality, set to the locality's default language.
If they are not selectable via either of the above options, next to determine is whether they are selectable through an alternate button press method or alternative player configuration (not via hardware changes). If so, enter them as an easter egg, with applicable instructions. If not, exclude them. | | | Bad movie? You're soaking in it! | | | Last edited: by tweeter |

cheers Donnie My point was it makes no difference what player you have. Japanese wouldn't show for you either unless you had your player language set to Japanese. You're trying to add a complication where none exists. |

Then why can I access the japanese Audio on "The Animatrix UK-Blu-Ray tho it is not listed on the back cover and tho my player is set to English language ? Donnie | | | www.tvmaze.com |
