| Posted: | | | | Please can we keep discussion about individual names in their own thread. I don't want this topic to become swamped with pages of discussion on 1 name.
Thank you. | | | Stuart |

| Posted: | | | | This thread does nothing without a stickied list in the first post of agreed-upon names. Nobody's going to sift through page upon page to look for them. | | | "I am Andrew Ryan and I am here to ask you a question: Is a man not entitled to the sweat of his own brow?
No, says the man in Washington. It belongs to the poor. No, says the man in the Vatican. It belongs to God. No, says the man in Moscow. It belongs to everyone.
I rejected those answers. Instead, I chose something different. I chose the impossible. I chose… Rapture." |

I think it has changed to collecting names for the "Credited As" Name database instead of updating the first post. | | |

| Posted: | | | | Hi James, is there any chance you could add the proposed parsing for Chinese names to the guidelines please? Here's the link to the thread where it's discussed. An idea for the wording: When adding Chinese/Hong Kong cast or crew names where the family name is normally shown first, place the given name in "first name" and the family name in "last name" and used "credited as" to show what's actually credited. For example, Chow Yun-Fat would be parsed as Yun-Fat//Chow credited as "Chow Yun-Fat". There was also the idea of using the middle name to store any "english" names, for example Lui Chia-Hui (Gordon Lui) would be parsed as Chia-Hui/Gordon/Lui - although this wasn't as widely discussed. | | | Last edited: by northbloke |

He is also often credited as W. Morgan Sheppard, so this should be added to the alias list. |

He is also often credited as W. Morgan Sheppard, so this should be added to the alias list. I would even prefer to use W. Morgan Sheppard as his "name" - in my experience, that is what he's mostly credited as. |

I think I'll start another thread about that as it was only suggested late on and I think most people may not have read it. Edit: I'll actually leave this for a while as I've just noticed Martin's started an unrelated poll about the middle name field and I don't want them getting mixed up. | | | Last edited: by northbloke |
