| Posted: | | | | Welcome, ladies and gentlemen, to the "let's bitch about a cent" topic 10th page party! How about we all just shut the hell up until we see what happens with the contribution? |

Of course I was around. I've been around almost since Profiler appeared. That's why I think it's gone too far.
If the RRP is changed with documentation, amongst dozens of other changes, what is the problem?
If the RRP is changed even with documentation, but on it's own, then yes; rules violated, bandwidth wasted, teeth being gnashed, Dalek mode engaged.
Lopek's change should be acceptable when taken with the big picture. What must new users be thinking when they see a thread like this? Well said Jon. Skip - I just wish you could see what you are doing damaging your credibility like this. You disagree on an interpretation - big deal. Vote no, thats what the voting system was set up for. Dragging this in to the forums was a big mistake. RR

Quite the contrary, I see Lopek the rule-Breaker as being the one whose credibility has been damaged along with that of anyone who has voted yes. The Rule is the Rule.

Skip But this is where you need to give. It is YOUR interpretation of the rule. Other users have THEIR interpretion of the rule. The only people who can actually state whose interpretation is correct, will be Ken or Gerri. The rest of us are just members with one vote. No one greater or lesser, irrespective of contributions etc. You should have trusted the voting system, instead of dragging this here. My opinion. RR

The Rule is clear there is no amount of parsing, rationalization, spin or anything else that can change one simplke sentence and the clear instruction, Do NOT do it.(paraphrase, obviously). Thos that are trying to do otherwise are simply trying support a totally indefensible position.

I totally see your point but I would like to know have you interpret the part of the rule that mentions SRP on the original release. Am I wrong in believing that a title should not have an SRP until the date of release.
I was just wondering. | | | Brian | | | Last edited: by BYATES1 |

| Posted: | | | | The way I read that part of the rule is that it means once the DVD is released the SRP becomes set. I don't think it means we're not allowed to enter one until the DVD's release, it's just that obviously until the DVD is released it could change at any time. |

| Posted: | | | | Anybody ever wonder why SRP is locked for any newly added profile with SRP information by default? It's because of over abuse of some contributers in that past, same is true for Disc ID. |

I believe this is due to the fact that your Disc ID may differ from the one stored in the main database. It can be set to lock by default so that your personal Disc ID is not overwritten. | | | ...James

Having been involved in that process the ONLY issue was to prevent the several cent SRP changes being made by the dozens, and thernbeing changed. there is no interpretation to make as I have said. Do NOT make such a change PERIOD, that is all there is. There is NO provision within the Rule, nor any exception to allow for such a change unedr ANY circumstance. It is at the same time recognized that SRP CAN sometimes be changed by the distributor at some point prior to release of the, for example 28.99===>24.99 with supporting documentation that would be permitted, prior to release or perhaps even "close"(this might have to be a judgement call) to the release date, but such changes from the Distributor will be significant changes. The Rule depsite all the claims to the contrary was not intenede to leave any wiggle room...DON"T MAKE THE CHANGE. As I said, my data happens to be identical to Lopek's including the SRP, but there were TWO reasons I chose to WITHDRAW mine, FIRST and Foremost the SRP change was a violation of the Rules, no spin, no rationalization, it was against the Rules and Secondly it was a duplicate Contribution, I frankly have no idea whetrher Lopek's was first or not, that wasnot relevant in my reasoning for withdrawl. There were also some conflicts in Lopek's initial Contribution,
I had hoiped that Lopek would make the change to his Contribution and end of subject right there. He did change MOST of the conflicting issues, but not the SRP, that was when it became apparent that this was flagrant abuse of the Rules. I still gave him the benefit of the doubt, when I started this thread and discussed the topic in general terms, hoping to educate other users and that he would realize his mistake and fix it. Instead he chose to out himself and the title data, thus rallying a bunch of users to violate the Rules in addition to his own.
Now frankly, i grew tired of this some time ago, Brian. but your question was reasonable. The rule is clear and obvious and has been handled in precisely the way described for TWO years until a rogue user decided to deliberately break the Rules and then try to spin his way out of it and invoilve other members of the Community as well.
Thanks for asking
