I was starting to "quote" in side of quotes etc but it started to look ugly .. so

1)
a)I wasn't describing what I didn't want but that what came out did not sort in any of those.  I am trying to understand how it IS coming out.

b) I would prefer that it either come out as it is in the profile list or by title (which is how I would have it in the list.

c)  I too use excel, but for this specific export I send it to my phone.  the Qucikoffice pro that I have does not appear to have anyway to sort.  This means that you have to import to excel, sort, save, then send it to the phone.  Just looking to save a few steps.

2) Here is a picture of the excel spread sheet "reduced to save space".  As you can see there are many 'location' columns.  Since not all discs listed in the box set were exported why export all the locations.  That is my only question

3) Once again the point is for some smart phones.  Quickoffice Pro doesn't have a conversion for cvs.  Having it in excel format simply reduces steps.

Thanks
Dsig

(1C) - well if you can convince Mark to do it, so be it.

(2) Just delete the extra columns and move on. Seems like not a big deal - but that's just me ... In a grid format, you have to have the largest dimensions required for the rows. So there must have been at least one profile in your list that has the number of discs for which you have columns.

(3) ?????? "cvs" (I assume you meant CSV) IS Excel format. Previously you were asking for "XSL." I think you've got your alphabet soup a bit jumbled. There are some good tutorials on data formats out there - I use them all the time to try and keep myself straight.

And there are a number of threads relating to smartphone conversions in the Forums. Now that Invelos search is fixed, you might check to see what others have done along those lines - might save you some steps.

Ok, now I'd better shut up and get out of Mark's therad before he throws me out ...

Mark, they weren't concerns or complaints or anything.  I was basically asking a question about how they come out of dvdprofiler to you.

Please forget the whole thing.  I did not mean to cause any problems and will refrain in the future.

Thanks again for the reply
David

They get handed back in the order the program gives it to me.  I never bothered with sorting because there seemed to be little point.

Sorry, I lost the site.  I have a new one lined up, but I've been in training at work and really busy in general.  I hope to get to it in the next couple days.

Just tried to download it and got: "The requested URL /MarkHarrison/CSVExport-2.1.zip was not found on this server."
Really missing or a typo anywhere?

Are you sure? Works for me. Are you using the link in his signature, which has been updated, or an old URL from the past? The new URL is different.

Turns out I didn't have that particular binary sitting on my hard drive.  Or backup folders on my drive.  Or my backup drive.  Or DropBox.  Or my USB drive.

Had to find an old copy of the code, recompile and rebuild an install (after getting and re-installing the install software).  So go ahead and give it a try.  Hopefully there won't be any unintended consequences!

I'll look for the original file on my machine tomorrow.  They should be identical.  In theory.  But I'll look anyway.

In other news, I think it's about time I find a good source control solution!

I am using Subversion (TortoiseSVN). I love it. We also use it at work.
You don't need a server, if you create a local repository (for private, single-user projects this is enough). Easy to set up. Easy to use.

Yeah, I was planning to check out a few today and Subversion was already at the top of a very short list.  I'll look into it.  Seems like I messed with it once or twice before.  I'm used to TFS, but I suppose I could learn a new tool for free.

I hope the file is working for everyone.  Let me know if there are still issues.  I'm leaving town for a week tomorrow (Wednesday the 18th), so don't put off reporting issues unless you don't mind waiting.
