| Posted: | | | | When a contribution is submitted, if it's not a brand new profile, it goes into a hold status to allow users to vote on the contribution before it's processed. The contribution voting period has historically been set at 48 hours minimum. In practice, the actual time in queue was between 2-7 days, depending on contribution volume and evaluator availability.
With our recent focus on keeping the contribution queue processed fully, the time in voting status has dropped to between 2-3 days, and some users have voiced a request to extend the minimum time for voting.
So the question is, how long should the minimum voting period be for profile/cover image updates? | | | Invelos Software, Inc. Representative |

| Posted: | | | | Didn't see this poll... so added one in the website forum if you wish to delete it Ken.
As I said in the other forum, I liked the 5 to 7 days. Since you broke it down so much didn't know what to vote for... so just went with 6 days. Though I just really want to see an increase... as I said in the other thread...
I personally feel 48hrs is not enough time to give everyone a chance to vote. I know I for one am seeing things I didn't get the chance to vote on come through now. Which means less eyes seeing it and the possibility of more mistakes getting into the database. | | | Pete |

| Posted: | | | | i agree 2 days is too short a time, especially for big, detailed changes.
Plus, i try to poke my head in looking for changes daily but sometimes life intrudes and it might be three or more.
I selected 5 days (though 6 works also). | | | Bad movie? You're soaking in it! |

| Posted: | | | | I like 2 days.
I don't find it too short: In my experience, most if not all votes on my submissions are cast in the first two days. Also, having a prompt judgement on a submission makes the process more enjoyable.
Is is going to prevent some from having the opportunity to vote? I don't think so: somebody who votes on submitted changes is, by definition, a serious collector and profiler; I expect most of those visit the site at least once a day. |

| Posted: | | | | But that is just it.... what we have now isn't what served us well all these years.... what we have now is like 3 times faster. It may be what was originally planned... but contributions still usually took 5 to 7 days. Now they are pushed to that 2 day limit. | | | Pete |

| Posted: | | | | I never got the impression it is just a temporary thing. Not going by what Ken said in either thread. And it is always better to have more eyes on it. Especially considering how many people we have around here voting yes to anything. It only takes 1 to see a potential problem or broken rule that the others don't see. Which may not come until later in the voting. So sorry... but I truly see this as a bad thing. | | | Pete |

--------------- It's not the yes votes that need the time, most people vote yes blindly. Need time to find and screen the film to make sure the new info is correct (some of us are disorganized with storage), check forums for rulings from Ken, BY and common name threads. Personally, I don't rubber stamp contributions. Takes me an average of 3 days. | | | Last edited: by ateo357 |

| Posted: | | | | I'd like to not have to log on every weekend (fri-sun), so minumum 3 days is ok for me. | | | First registered: February 15, 2002 | | | Last edited: by Nexus the Sixth |

The average time in voting queue was actually 118 hours last year. In the last three weeks, it's been 67 hours. | | | Invelos Software, Inc. Representative |

| Posted: | | | | For me it does not matter as I vote every day several times. Too short is not good for others looking into it only once or twice a week. Too long makes it difficult for corrections when you have to wait to not make a mess. So for me the best would be between 3 and 4 days. | | | * 3D TV Panasonic TX-P65VT30J + Blu-ray Player Panasonic DMP-BDT500 My Filmcollection online: www.filmkino.ch * |

So sorry... but I truly see this as a bad thing. My impression is that "no" votes have little effect when they're in the minority and there is at least some correct data being contributed along with incorrect data. For the record, I don't object to lengthening the voting period, I just don't see a need. --------------- |

| Posted: | | | | Everyone that comes to the forum has the right to and should have enough time to vote on all contributions.
I am not asking for the time to be lengthened or shortened... I am just asking for it to be put back to exactly the way it was for all these years. The change of trying to knock them out quicker like this should have never been made. | | | Pete |

| Posted: | | | | Going down from and average 118 hours to an average of 67 hours is a heck of a drop and one that limits what some of us can vote on. | | | Pete |
