| Posted: | | | | Version 3.9 adds two case types: Handle Case, Fr4me. It also renames the "Steelbook" to "Metal Case" to allow inclusion of different types that previously were listed as custom. The decision to rename Steelbook came from the ideas posted in this thread. Since the change, there have been a few posts asking for the Steelbook name to be restored. If you have an opinion on this, please let us know by voting. I'm including an "Other" category, and if you select that, please make a post detailing your idea. If necessary, I'll combine/reorganize and create another poll. | | | Invelos Software, Inc. Representative |

| Posted: | | | | Other. Why can't both be included? Keep Steelbook and add Metal Case. | | | My one wish for the DVD Profiler online database: Ban or remove the disc-level profiles of TV season sets. It completely screws up/inflates the CLT. FACT: Imdb is WRONG 70% of the time! Misspelled cast, incomplete cast, wrong cast/crew roles. So for those who want DVD Profiler to be "as perfect as Imdb", good luck with that. Stop adding UNIT crew! They're invalid credits. Stop it! |

| Posted: | | | | I was originally going to vote for the renaming to Metal Case (trying to keep to simple). However, Steenbok seems to be its own thing, used by the industry for a specific category of cases and used to name Editions. Amazon even had a category dedicated to this. So, I agree with huskersports. Either add Metal Case for the variants that are not Steelbooks or keep the variants under Custom. (I think I own only one Steelbook, maybe two, and one Metal Case myself.) | | | Achim [諾亞信; Ya-Shin//Nuo], a German in Taiwan. Registered: May 29, 2000 (at InterVocative) |

| Posted: | | | | Isn't steelbook a brand? Like Kleenex is for facial tissue. Since there are several different case types made out of metal shouldn't the broadest terminology be used to cover them all? Because, if you're going to use both steelbook and metal case then why not include metalpak, ironpaks or whatever this is . Or what about tins such as these types? | | | Last edited: by CubbyUps |

Some go as far as buying nothing other than SteelBooks. However, there are distinct and distinguishable features about each of the different types of metal cases. Quoting CubbyUps: Quote: Since there are several different case types made out of metal shouldn't the broadest terminology be used to cover them all? True, but this is no different than the two options we already have for HD Keepcase and HD Slim. Both are essentially a plastic Blu-ray case but we distinguish between the two. Also, a Fr4me is nothing more than a brand name too. Quoting CubbyUps: Quote: ... or whatever this is (deleted image) That would be a Neo case. http://www.neobluray.comhttp://www.discgraphics.com/services/neo | | | Last edited: by rdodolak |

Once again, everything in the program can be customized with a translation file, so everybody can choose Steelbook or Metal Case as he wants. | | | Images from movies | | | Last edited: by surfeur51 |

| Posted: | | | | Can I ask why steelbook gets it's own entry, but the other types of metal cases don't?
For example, I own some metal paks. In fact, likely the second highest amount of metal type cases I own.
And what sort of metal cases would fall under that umbrella?
And how many actually know the difference between a steelbook and a metal pak? I could see a lot of people mistakenly entering metal paks as steelbooks. |

| Posted: | | | | I don't see a reason to make a special entry for steelbook (which is a trademark) when we've never ever made a distinction between actual Amaray cases and all the copies of it and just labelled them under "keep case". | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online

| Posted: | | | | I have no firm opinion on this issue, but I do think that the more entries are added to Case Type, the more confusing this will become for the average user, i.e. the one who is not a forum regular.
At the very least we should then have a pinned forum thread for reference, explaining in detail (and showing pictures) what all these case types are and how to distinguish them, much like the thread our fellow user northbloke started years ago, but then without all the discussion. I really think the average user doesn't have a clue what the distinction between a steelbook and a metalpak might be. |

Agreed. I actually am a forum regular, but I honestly wouldn't know, nor care, what the (perceived) difference is between a "Steelbook" or a "Metal Case". If both were listed, I'd have to go look at the rules or a forum thread to have this explained to me, but else I really wouldn't know. That doesn't exactly make me a fan of listing both. Quoting DJ Doena: Quote: I don't see a reason to make a special entry for steelbook (which is a trademark) when we've never ever made a distinction between actual Amaray cases and all the copies of it and just labelled them under "keep case". Indeed. Quoting CubbyUps: Quote: Can I ask why steelbook gets it's own entry, but the other types of metal cases don't? Indeed again. Before we know it, we're going to have to list fifty different case types - is this really where we want to go? Quoting CubbyUps: Quote: And how many actually know the difference between a steelbook and a metal pak? I could see a lot of people mistakenly entering metal paks as steelbooks. I certainly don't know, nor do I care about it. As such, I'd prefer to keep this as simple as possible. One case type for any kind of "Metal Case" is more than enough for me. | | | Last edited: by T!M |
