| Posted: | | | | There are some pending contributions to certain short films collections which add "DVD Host" as a Cast member. Actually this host isn't credited anywhere, he wasn't even born when these films were made. He has nothing to do with the actual films on those DVDs. Each DVD has a few minutes long "Introduction by xxxx" featurette (separately selectable from menus), but I still cannot understand how rules support adding him to Cast? The problem is that everybody except me is voting yes, and I'm quite afraid that these contributions will be accepted just because the amount of yes voters. I understand why Alfred Hitchcock is added as a host on Alfred Hitchcock Presents series, since his introduction is a part of each episode, but in these cases it isn't so. I would much rather see his introduction added to Other Features. Any thoughts? |

--------------- I completely agree. For me this rule is as clear as it can be. I checked that I have in my collection almost 50 releases which includes a director's (usually) introduction. I still wouldn't try to add for example Ridley Scott to Kingdom of Heaven Cast as a "DVD host" | | | Last edited: by Kulju |

--------------- ^^ This ^^ Introduction by whomever is a Special Feature and could at most be entered in the "Other Features"-section (e.g. as "Feature introduction(s) by XYZ") | | | It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up! But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

Well hopefully the screeners know the rules as well or someone votes NO pointing to this thread so they see One can hope, but recent experience tells me they don't...even when you quote the rule in your vote comment. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. Same here, the usual answer you get when asking for a reason is that "The rules are wrong here and/or don't make sense". | | | It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up! | Posted: | | | | I believe the title in question here is a collection of short films, and if I'm not mistaken, there IS a feature in the main menu titled "Introduction with {host}" If that is the case, how can we claim he's not credited? |

As I understand it, they are saying that the introduction is a special feature, rather than a part of the main feature, which is a collection of shorts. Because of that, he doesn't get credited as part of the cast. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. As noted above, this is a "special feature" for which we do not submit cast, and I hope you're not suggesting that one's name in the menu constitutes an onscreen credit. --------------- |

| Posted: | | | | Well, I question whether it truly is a "special feature" or if it's a main part of how the anthology was crafted. Again, we're not setting out to profile the individual titles necessarily, but the DVD itself, right?
So is the introduction intended to be isolated. or part of the primary product? |

| Posted: | | | | It doesn't matter what you call it. The question is if the introduction was part of the original feature(s). Quote: Examples of valid Other Features: Film Introductions (which were not part of the original theatrical release)
