| Posted: | | | | For years now we have been promised an upgraded online collection. And yet here we still wait. Personally I am seriously tiring of the long wait. While I would love to see the entire thing redone... I would personally be happy with just 1 particular thing updated to tide us over till Ken can redo the entire thing. The one thing I would like to see addressed right away is to nest the boxset and children together. Giving us the same view as in the program itself... with the little plus sign icon to click on to see the child profiles. Please Zombie... throw us a bone! | | | Pete |

| Posted: | | | | Glad to have what I have for the online... One day Pete you'll have to give up on that DVDP+ fairytale and get a working phpdvdp as you had before.
But you are right having the boxset parent and child linked together would make the online looks less messy. | | | Last edited: by Jimmy S |

| Posted: | | | | Another mess is that it uses Title instead (or optionally) Original Title. My sort titles are based on Original Title and that makes web page sorting a total mess. |

| Posted: | | | | If it was just an option I wouldn't care.... but I for one don't use the original title for anything. So I definitely wouldn't want that to be the standard... or the default for that matter. I pointed this thread to invelos... was basically told more of the same... they will look at this after the Android version... much like we been told over and over again... after such and such thing. | | | Pete |

Having Original Title as an option can be highly relevant for users in countries where DVD publishers tend to use localized titles for their releases in e.g. German, French etc. (Fortunately, in my own country that's rarely the case, except for children's stuff). |

| Posted: | | | | I said I had no problem with it being an option.... but having it as the default would effect me... just because I don't use it (it don't show anywhere in my profiles) don't mean they aren't attached to my profiles... I just have it set so they don't show. So if it was the default then yes... it would effect me. | | | Pete |

| Posted: | | | | Even just more options for the default background colour would be enough for me. I really don't like either of the 2 colours available. Even white, or a light grey or something would be better. |

| Posted: | | | | Agree there... but that is more minor for me. the whole box set thing is the big one for me personally.... anything else is just extra in my eyes! If the child profiles where handled as they are in the program... in my opinion, the online would look much better then it does now. But either way... looks like we still have a rather large wait ahead of us. | | | Pete |

| Posted: | | | | Others may not agree... but in my opinion... the online collections has been the worst thing about DVD Profiler every since I first joined... 13 years ago. It is in dire need of an update. I am so hoping we can get this pushed up a bit.
I was told after the Android version... but we have heard this before... after such and such is released we will work on the online collections. And it never happened... so forgive me if I just don't believe this answer. | | | Pete |

| Posted: | | | | I agree about the need to allow nesting of profiles - as it is now we are not following the rules since we can not contribute Cast and Crew exactly as credited.
It would be great if it could also be implemented for the online collection. |

| Posted: | | | | Think you are slightly confused on what I was talking about Kathy... what I am talking about has nothing to do with cast and crew... the program already does what I am talking about... giving the plus sign to click on to see the child profiles. That is what I really want to see for the online list as well. | | | Pete |

| Posted: | | | | I've no problem with online collection. A simple list would even be sufficient for me since I have everything on local.
I would prefer Ken working on a correct linking function for names, for the main program. | | | Images from movies | | | Last edited: by surfeur51 |

If your profiles have Original Titles then you are using them. If they don't have Original Titles then Title = Original Title and no effect. Or do you mean that your profiles contain Original Title info but your local view mode doesn't show them unless you're in edit mode? |

Even now I've shown a few people my collection online and their interest in DVDP went south when they saw what the online collection looked like. | | | HDTV: 52" Toshiba Regza 52XV545U AVR: Onkyo TR-707 Speakers: Paradigm Monitor 7 v6, CC-190 & Atom Monitors Subwoofer: Definitive Technology ProSub 800 BD/DVD: Oppo BDP-93 (Region Free) HD PVR: Motorola DXC3400 500GB w/ 1TB Expander BD/DVD/Game: 250GB PS3 Slim DVD/Game: 250GB XBox 360 Elite Special Edition (Black) Game: Wii Remote: Logitech Harmony One w/ PS3 Adapter WHS: Acer H341 Windows Home Server |

What I put in bold... exactly... and if they afre not showing then I am obviously not using them. No different then say if I don't have the disc panel showing I am not using the info in that panel. Just because the info exists in the profile don't mean I am using that info. | | | Pete |

That's why I use phpDVDProfiler, the Online Collection is just too ... plain to put it mildly. Weren't it for voting and the additional backup, I wouldn't even bother to upload my collection. cya, Mithi | | | Mithi's little XSLT tinkering - the power of XML --- DVD-Profiler Mini-Wiki |
