| Posted: | | | | I am getting extremely frustrated. Ever since updating I have not been able to use this program. I pay for this and would really appreciate some help. I have tried everything I can find on this site to fix this problem. Whenever I open the program it hangs on updating database, nothing happens. I try to cancel and it tells me to run database repair, I click run and it hangs there, nothing happens. I close out of the program, even go into task manager and shut it down but when I try to open it again it says it is still running...grr. It has been well over a month. If no one can help fix this then give me the old version and I will use that. Once again, I paid for this would like to use it!! |

| Posted: | | | | First of all check if the error persists when (temporarily!) disabling your security software (Antivirus and Firewall). If not, set DVDProfiler as "Trusted". If the error persists please try the following: 1) Download the current version from here2) Install the program 3) Download the Online Profile List from here, selecting "Save Target As". Then, browse to your "My Documents" folder, then into "DVD Profiler" from there. Save the downloaded file. 4) Start DVDProfiler Your database will get updated to the new version, depending on your collection size this can take a while (< 5 min.) After this procedure everything should be OK. Please come up again if it isn't. | | | It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up! But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

| Posted: | | | | Thank you for your input. I have just tried your suggestions and after hanging for over 10 minutes. I checked my task manager and DVD profiler was at 0% and not responding.
This did not resolve my problem. Any other help? |

| Posted: | | | | Have you tried using an alternative connection?
Tools > Options > Online > Use Alternative Connection Method > Okay
Once you've done this do what you normally do.
Or,
I can see your collection online so maybe you should try opening up a new database and download the online collection.
File > Open Database > New Database...> Name > Okay.
Once you have the empty database, download you collection to this new one and see if you can do what you want with this new database. | | | Last edited: by Kathy |

| Posted: | | | | Reboot your pc then run the repair utility from the start menu. This is the resolution for 99% of the reports of the symptom you describe. The telltale sign is the program hanging during the database conversion. | | | Invelos Software, Inc. Representative |

| Posted: | | | | I do not seem to have access to the repair utility from the start menu. There is only one option and that is to open the program, which brings me to this issue. |

| Posted: | | | | I have the exact same problem now after updating from version 3.8.1 to 3.8.2. When I try to start the program, i get an "updating database... dialog" that cannot be moved and that is sitting on top of any program. There seem to be two progress bar indicators but these indicators do nothing.
My CPU load is at constant 25% with dvdpro.exe but the program won't load. Rebooting the PC did not help either.
Please advise. I already uninstalled the program and re-installed it. This does not help. | | | Last edited: by Bartman |

| Posted: | | | | yes I ran the repair. I can start the program only when I select that I want to create a new database. My database is on a QNAP NAS and DVD Profiler finds the database when I select it but the database updating does not happen. There are 1170 titles in the database.
Version 3.8.2 does not work for me. Where can I download version 3.8.1? |

| Posted: | | | | Did you put in a support ticket? I'd suggest moving the db locally and give it a go, just to see if it is an issue with the NAS. | | | HDTV: 52" Toshiba Regza 52XV545U AVR: Onkyo TR-707 Speakers: Paradigm Monitor 7 v6, CC-190 & Atom Monitors Subwoofer: Definitive Technology ProSub 800 BD/DVD: Oppo BDP-93 (Region Free) HD PVR: Motorola DXC3400 500GB w/ 1TB Expander BD/DVD/Game: 250GB PS3 Slim DVD/Game: 250GB XBox 360 Elite Special Edition (Black) Game: Wii Remote: Logitech Harmony One w/ PS3 Adapter WHS: Acer H341 Windows Home Server |

| Posted: | | | | I have downloaded version 3.8.1 1535 build from an internet site, installed it and I was able to open my database stored on that same NAS drive as I was before I tried to update to version 3.8.2.
It works without any issue.
Then I did download version 3.8.2 again, updated my version 3.8.1 and opened the database. The database does not open, the program just does not respond anymore when it wants to read that same database that version 3.8.1 could read for months withoud any issues.
Version 3.8.2 needs to be fixed because it clearly is broken with my configuration. I waited for 30 minutes, nothing happened. Version 3.8.2 is still using 25% of my CPU and no progress is seen. What worked wih 3.8.1 must also work with 3.8.2.
Although, opening a support ticket would not resolve the issue because no one can test with my setup. I may have to look for an altenative program now which is a very bad situation because I paid for an unlimited registration. | | | Last edited: by Bartman |

| Posted: | | | | Quoting Bartman: Quote: The database does not open. Version 3.8.2 needs to be fixed because it clearly is broken now. What worked wih 3.8.1 must also work with 3.8.2. Not necessarily. It has worked for many people, there may be an issue that is causing the problem. If you haven't sent in a support ticket, I'd do so as that is the best way to get something like this fix and addressed. There may be a really easy solution to your problem, but you won’t know until you submit a support ticket. If it is an issue with the program then Ken can address it and fix the issue before the next update. | | | HDTV: 52" Toshiba Regza 52XV545U AVR: Onkyo TR-707 Speakers: Paradigm Monitor 7 v6, CC-190 & Atom Monitors Subwoofer: Definitive Technology ProSub 800 BD/DVD: Oppo BDP-93 (Region Free) HD PVR: Motorola DXC3400 500GB w/ 1TB Expander BD/DVD/Game: 250GB PS3 Slim DVD/Game: 250GB XBox 360 Elite Special Edition (Black) Game: Wii Remote: Logitech Harmony One w/ PS3 Adapter WHS: Acer H341 Windows Home Server |

| Posted: | | | | Have opened a support ticket copying my findings from here, although I do not have any hope that this would be fixed because no one would be able to reproduce this issue but me. |

| Posted: | | | | I am still having this issue. I can not get the repair utility to run. I would be interested in knowing where I can find version 3.8.1? Also how do I go about opening a support ticket? |
