I was given a box set where the title is difficult at best. What I need to figure out is what what the title for the box set (Parent Profile) for this set would be per the current rules we have now.

As we know the title comes from the front cover...

In the online database now the title is The Prophecy & Hellraiser (Complete Collection). I definitely believe the current is not correct per the Rules.

I just don't know it it should be...

Title: Miramax Complete Collection: The Prophecy & Hellraiser
Edition: Blank

or

Title: The Prophecy & Hellraiser
Edition: Miramax Complete Collection

or something else entirely.

I know it can't be used per rules... but on the back cover it calls itself The Prophecy & Hellraiser Collection Which I may personally use locally only... but what is the correct (per rules we have today) title of this set for the online database?

I think I am leaning a little towards...

Title: Miramax Complete Collection: The Prophecy & Hellraiser
Edition: Blank

but I am not sure.

I'd go for the second you proposed

Title: The Prophecy & Hellraiser
Edition: Miramax Complete Collection

I would agree. The Title field is for the films rather than the set itself.

Title: The Prophecy & Hellraiser
Edition: Miramax Complete Collection

There is no clear cut answer in the rules and, despite the issue being raised many times in the past, invelos or Ken has not stepped in to clarify the matter.

I had raised this issuse in the rules committe forum based on a similar title question you raised previously: http://invelos.com/Forums.aspx?task=viewtopic&topicID=600899&PageNum=1

The thread did not result in any clear cut answers or suggestions and no results came from that post.

Therefore, there is no "correct" answer and these contributions are entered based on the contributors and voters opinions.

From what I've seen there is no continuity in the screeners decision - they seem to go with what the voters say.

I don't think Miramax is intended as part of the Edition.

I actually think Miramax is meant to be part of it... The reason... it has Hellraiser 3-8. Before that from what I can tell they weren't Miramax films. This is only the Miramax Collection of films.

Edit:
The actual set is put out by Echo Bridge.

These are gonna keep getting more common as Echo Bridge continues to release solos discs, then 2-3 packs, then 5-6 packs, then 10+ ones. It's started on blu-ray as well. Lionsgate has similar sets, and there's the ever lovable 4-Film Favorites from Warner Brothers.

I like how the Midnight Horror sets are set up and think these and all others should follow, so I like your first suggestion:

Title: Miramax Complete Collection: The Prophecy & Hellraiser
Edition: blank (or custom if changing title locally)

The only reason I don't agree with the film titles being in the title field is many other sets that aren't related or a series of sequels, i.e. any of the Midnight Horror Collections shown above.

I am with bigdaddyhorse on this one.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.

We will teach it to them again.

I was afraid of this... half the people thinks one way is correct and the other half thinks the other way is correct! And I can see both sides of it.

Oh well... I am going to give it a bit more time before I decide.

But names of collections belong in the Edition field, per Rules.

Not exactly.  While the edition rule does say it is, "for indicating special versions and collections," it doesn't say that the word 'collection' makes it an edition.  This is left open to interpretation...as it should be in my opinion.

As an example, The Clint Eastwood Collection.  That is the name of the set, it is not an edition.

Exactly... you still have to determine if whatever the word collection is in... if it is the/part of the title or is the edition.

But for any movie in the Clint Eastwood Collection, TCEC does become an edition. Example, Title: For a Few Dollars More

Edition: The Clint Eastwood Collection

Just my 2 cents.
My one wish for the DVD Profiler online database: Ban or remove the disc-level profiles of TV season sets. It completely screws up/inflates the CLT.
FACT: Imdb is WRONG 70% of the time! Misspelled cast, incomplete cast, wrong cast/crew roles. So for those who want DVD Profiler to be "as perfect as Imdb", good luck with that.
Stop adding UNIT crew! They're invalid credits. Stop it!
