| Posted: | | | | Underneath the 2 frontcover of the German release of Kung Fu Panda and Kung Fu Panda 2 in 3D. In Germany they tell, 3D is not part of the Title (I agree) and not part of the Edition (I disagree). It is not marked 3D Edition, only a big 3D. I wish to have just the word "3D" in the Edition field so that in the online and local database you can immediately see what it is and not just after having a look at the Frontcover image to know it is the 2D or 3D version. Am I wrong to put 3D in the edition field? I did see in the States, GB and Italy they did it this way. Thanks for input, I don't like to do a vote against the rules. | Posted: | | | | You should have made this post a Poll . Not that anyone pays any particular attention to poll results anyways . I put 3D in the edition field. I've submitted a number of 3D Blu-ray titles to the Database with 3D in the Edition field and they have all been accepted. | | | My WebGenDVD online Collection | | | Last edited: by Bad Father |

| Posted: | | | | I don't see any reason why the "3D" should not belong into the edition-field in cases like this. Quoting the rules: Quote: The Edition field is for distinguishing between DVDs, and for indicating special versions [...] If you are using a non-standard description, take it from the DVD box, and ensure it will help distinguish between different releases of the same title. Is 3D a special version? Yes, as long as there's a "normal" 2D version out Is it on the box? Yes. Will it help to distinguish between different releases? Most definitely, provided there's a 2D version. But as Ken pointed out in another thread, this will most likely be taken care off in version 3.8. If I understood it correctly 3D will get it's own Media Type. | | | It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up! But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

| Posted: | | | | Going by what Ken said HERE it seems that it will b going in the video section. At least it don't sound like he will be giving it it's own media type. | | | Pete |

| Posted: | | | | Imho it's an edition and not a part of the title. So i agree with SwissFilm and Silence_of_Lambs. | | | Si on n'a pas ce qu'on aime, on doit aimer, ce qu'on a ! |

| Posted: | | | | I have no set opinion but as Pete noted ken is addressing this. But, part of the title...rarely if ever. Edition field sometimes but not in every instance. I would say the best way to handle it in the interim is via the tag system. | | | ASSUME NOTHING!!!!!! CBE, MBE, MoA and proud of it. Outta here

| Posted: | | | | This may change with the 3.2 update, but until then the edition field is correct per the rules. |

| Posted: | | | | In a case like this, it should fall under the edition field. When 3D is added to the title itself, like "Bolt 3D" or "Green Lantern 3D", it should be in the title (with the 3D-less title in the original title field). |

I agree this is the correct way to do it. |

I do all three lol In the cases where thay add it to the title like "Bolt 3D" I do title, in this case is clearlty an edition. But I also tag all 3D profiles with tags to find them all easily and consistantly. Because we do not 100% know how it will be handled in 3.8. |

| Posted: | | | | I disagree with the use of 3D in the title field.
I agree that the Edition field, is used to distinguish between releases but...
Blu Ray + DVD Blu Ray + Digital Copy Blu Ray + Ultraviolet Blu Ray + DVD + Ultraviolet Blu Ray + DVD + Digital Copy
These are blazoned across the top of many packages, but we have not started using these as editions.
I think that we should wait at this point, until the next software release, to see how Ken plans to handle these releases.
So my opinion, unless in very specific situations, should use tags at this point.

Charlie In fact, Charlie, those headers are specifically prohibited in the rules relative to edition. There may be some which might qualify as part of the title, and some which might qualify as edition. But I think for the most part using the tag system in the interim is the best answer, ken has said we will have an answer in the next release. | | | ASSUME NOTHING!!!!!! | Posted: | | | | And alot of titles are headered the same way;
3D+Blu Ray+DVD+ Digital copy
or something else to that effect, so it still applies
