During the last days, end January-first February, someone from Invelos is declining contributions with a message "Sources for one or more of the changes and/or additions were non-specific. Please specify the exact source for your changes. (e.g. "Credits from film end credit list", "Previous version UPC#1111111111")".  This is surprising when on the contributions form it's described that details are from original disc or cast and credit copy from other accepted contributions. This is a very bad issue from this supervisor as "invites" not to contribute any more. Contributions effort is gold worth of this community and it takes time to do it. Every one wants to find and download a contribution for earning time ; but when there are not contributions, the worth of this database is loosing to death. Invelos has to supervise its supervisors when decide to decline right contributions, where there is not any doubt that the information contributed is from verified by own contributor and uses also other accepted Invelos contributions.

I got declined once despite specifying the cast and crew came from opening/end credits. However, if you're copying and pasting it from another accepted contribution, you need to specify the exact UPC or disc ID.

It will be nice when Invelos realizes how retarded and unhelpful the generic reasons are for declines. It doesn't take that much time to actually give a brief, detailed reason and it only helps for future submissions.

While alien hurls insults at invelos, I don't think he considers the burden of dealing with 30 to 50 k of contributions each and every month .
As to the op's specific remarks, please keep a couple of issues in mind. First users still do submit data fr imdb for their contributions. This is both against the rules and illegal since we do not license the use of their data. So you need to tell where your data came from, the film credits. Second, your notes are part of the record and hence the "bibliography" for a given title and therefor the notes need to be clear and descriptive in how you assembled the profile. Remember the volume of contributions, IF invelos has 10 screeners and we assume 50k in contributions that means each screener processes 25 to 30 profiles in an 8 hour shift, that's a lot.

Not only are contributions being declined, but i think the number of contributions being MADE is declining. Buck Rogers season 1 came out a few weeks ago, and it is not in the database.

No Adam-12 season 7, or the 70s Invisible Man series ( coming to DVD and Blu-ray!), on the pre-release list. A few Doctor Who titles are missing for R1.

I know, i should contribute it. But i hate wasting my time just to have a basic submission declined. And yes, it has happened. But just like the title of this thread, i do not know why.

I agree errors suck, but so does having nothing!

50,000 contributions per month for 571974 profiles = 1 in 11.4 profiles get an update per month.

I own over 5460 profiles (no children, main profiles only) with 99% from 'busy' localities (US/UK). My collection is fairly mainstream also. Using those stats I should see 479 of my profiles getting updates per month. I'm lucky if it's more than 2-3 a day. Currently 12 of my titles have updates pending.

I think 50k is a pretty damn high exaggeration.

Personally I am seeing lots of updates still. Currently well over 50 up for vote for me right now.

And i only saw about 10-12 updates to vote on, and most of those were titles that have been out for a while, and only had minor changes.

The only "new" and upcoming title i had to vote on that has not ben released is Logan's Run (TV series). It has a new front and back cover scan.

Don't know what to tell you... I can only go by what I actually see coming through. That and what Ken & Gerri said the last time they commented on it. And at that time at least they said contributions were at an all-time high. Whether that changed or not only they can say for sure.

I just know I am doing just as much voting now as I ever did.

I ask the question I have asked before, if you think it is so terrible then why use it. I am sorry your original program choice was not good enough to survive but...

Could you please point out where I have ever said the program is bad? Please, please, please?

I have said repeatedly it is the best currently on the market for my needs and I stand by that (though others are now catching up... and fast). Now, my gripe is with Invelos' level of participation. When will we see desktop requests responded to or added? When will the android version be available? etc etc. 52 posts in a whole year by the owner and public face of the product is rubbish.

Still, in your blind lovefest, you'll pick apart my second paragraph and won't answer my first sentence. Par for the course for Skippy.

Cool, but that still doesn't even come close to being in the range of 1 in 11.4 with your collection of 2942 (not including the gazillion child profiles you have).

Just picking nits here, but what do you consider mainstream?  I had a quick look at your collection and there were a lot of titles I have never heard of.

That's why I said fairly mainstream. I do have a soft spot for low budget movies and also giallos and other phases I have gone through (Asian, cannibals etc etc), but for the most part I would say I have a lot of blockbusters etc etc.

Typical

I take that back... sort of! It's nice to see but every once in a blue moon sucks. Especially if you look at Kulju's pinned list.

btw, back to the 'mainstream' sort of thing, I could contradict myself and say it seems that the more offbeat the movie, the more contributions I see, probably because those that collect certain genres are much more... ummm... anal. I contribute where I can, but lately just haven't had the time but still try at least one a day.
