I know it's only a small difference but just wanted to check |

| Posted: | | | | I would say in your example of "John Smith Productions" the answer would be no, they don't get a producer credit because that to me, seems to be a production company. "John Smith Productions" is not the same thing as "A John Smith Production".
My understanding, is it would only be if it's credited "A John Smith Production" that John Smith would get the producer credit. | | | The night is calling. And it whispers to me soflty come and play. |

Imho "[name] Productions" should also don't get a credit. Except for the fact that that thread took place back in July of 2009. The rules have been updated since then, and currently appear as such: Production: Producer: Producer, Produced By, A [name] Production (excluding company names) Unless (to use the above example) "A John Smith Production" is the company name, he would indeed get a producer credit. If "A John Smith Production" refers to the a production company, he wouldn't get a credit. The distinction needs to be made between whether the name in question is just the producer, or if the name refers to a production company. | | | The night is calling. | Posted: | | | | I'm thinking the rule was probably updated to find a way to work in producer credits for a lot of older films.
I can't count the number of times I've seen "A Samuel Goldwyn Production" where the guy's not actually listed anywhere else in the credits as "Produced by Samuel Goldwyn" (or something along those lines). | | | The night is calling. And it whispers to me soflty come and play. |

I know it's only a small difference but just wanted to check The absence of th 'A', and the addition of the 's', makes this a company credit so, no, it does not get a producer credit. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. | Posted: | | | | Yep, seems I missed that change.* Was writting my post im my break at work, so I didn't take the time for a look-up in the rules. I also agree that Production s indicate it's a company-name and so we wouldn't give it a producer credit. |

It's a good day for Dino De Laurentis (hope I spelled that close at least). He has tons of these credits from audits I've done, and plenty are already credited and in database. |

| Posted: | | | | Well since the "credit" was not used after he died.... Not only that it is hard to Produce something when you are not alive to do so. There may have been some films in the "can", in which he played a mjor role, perhaps Jungle book, but by and large your aren't going to see that after he passed.
I don't consider it a valid credit for producer or EP at any rate, which is he EP or producer...so it won't be used or Contributed from here. Nor will it be accepted as an update.
