| Posted: | | | | Hi,
I was just about to register this Blu-ray disc in Profiler and got a surprise: Instead of the swedish BR release of "The Duchess" it said "Nim's Island".
Now, thinking about it, media companies must have made this mistake earlier so how do I enter this "new" UPC into Profiler, this can't be the first time it happens?

| Posted: | | | | since "Nim's Island" also seems to be a Swedish title, your only chance is to enter your BR into your PC-BR-Drive and add the movie by DiscID.
There can be only one entry per UPC and Locality in the database, sorry. | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online

| Posted: | | | | You can't unless you can prove the Nim's island is wrong. does the UPC/EAN on the back cover match the profile UPC, it appears to. For some reason this is a very common problem outside of region 1. The only thing you can do, since it appears to be a valid profile for Nim's island is to vreate The Duchess profile via Disc ID.

| Posted: | | | | As I said, the media company have reused the UPC so nothing wrong anywhere that way.
Unfortunately I have no PC BR-drive so can't do it that way...
Hm, but looking through different retailer sites three have it listed under a different UPC (one of those being the one I bought from) and a fourth uses a subset of the same number as its article number. Perhaps only a mistake on the cover then...
That UPC is unused in the database so would it perhaps be ok to use that UPC instead with an explanation in the contribution notes?

| Posted: | | | | No it is not Ok. Per the Rules the Rules the images must match the profile UPC. You could build the profile with the UPC you refer to BUT you could not Contribute the images, since your does not match the UPC. You could build the profile and Contribute, but make sure that you do NOT contribute images unless they match the UPC of the profile.

| Posted: | | | | The media company knew they had made a mistake, that's why they put a sticker with the correct EAN for The Duchess on the outside of the shrink wrap: 7312230505945
Unfortunately you can't produce a matching scan if you have thrown the sticker away... (as I did). So if you contribute this, be sure to mention why the EAN doesn't match the cover in your notes. | | | First registered: February 15, 2002 | | | Last edited: by Nexus the Sixth |

| Posted: | | | | Surely that would be purposely changing accurate information though. If the media company made a mistake and covered the UPC with a new one on the shrinkwrap, it doesn't change the fact that the one used on the actual case is still the one that should be submitted.
Of course, that is if I'm reading it correctly and you're suggesting changing the UPC from the actual one on the case (even if it was put there by mistake) to the one on a sticker on the shrinkwrap? | | | Last edited: by samuelrichardscott |

| Posted: | | | | I'm not trying to cause trouble. It's an honest question and one you are yet to answer. Who cares if it is a well known thing, that isn't the point. The point is you are now condoning people adding a UPC from the shrinkwrap and not from the actual case.
From the rules: When creating a new profile for contribution, the preferred method is to create from the UPC number. The UPC (called EAN in some countries) is the number under the barcode on the DVD’s case.
Case, not shrinkwrap. |

If the UPC on the shrinkwrap covered the UPC on the case at the time of retail purchase then it is the product's UPC. --------------- |

| Posted: | | | | If the overview has a spelling error we are to leave it. What makes this case any different? The UPC that is on the case is the one that should be entered into the database.
Often the shrink wrap has a different UPC number covering the one on the DVD case - usually if it is on sale. | | | Last edited: by Kathy |
