| Posted: | | | | Sorry for my english, I'm french, and the french are very bad in english !!!
^^
I have 3 ideas for your software.
First/ I think that will be so funny to know how many users have the DVD in their collection. Can you add an option where we can see how many users have "Titanic" for example in his collection, and adding the number on the main list (at the left) in the software, in order to see quickly how many users have my movies ! (Sorry again for the english)
2/ Can you add a part on the software for the biography to the actor (biography, birth date, dead date ... ).
3/ Can you add a part "adding teasers" with link of youtube, dailymotion etc, in order to look the teasers with the software dvd profiler. |

| Posted: | | | | The best place to put your ideas is in the " Feature Requests" section of the Forum. FWIW there used to be a site run independently which used DVDP data to do what your first request did but you had to tell the site about your collection so it didn't have many of the users. | | | It is dangerous to be right in matters where established men are wrong |

2/ Can you add a part on the software for the biography to the actor (biography, birth date, dead date ... ). . You can already add headshot photos for each actor. I'm doubtful that functionality to give actors biography would be held within the program since this would constantly change (as they starred in new films etc). And why do this when this information is already held on other web sites IMDB etc? Quoting Driv3n: Quote:
3/ Can you add a part "adding teasers" with link of youtube, dailymotion etc, in order to look the teasers with the software dvd profiler. The facility to add links to each profile already exists. | | | Paul |

While it should be technically possible to add this, privacy rules will apply here, some people probably wont want others to know what's in their collection (even just through numbers who own a title) so IF added, I would think that it would be on an opt in basis. |

| Posted: | | | | First/ Yes i just want to see "numbers who own a title" 2/ Yes I understand for the biography, but if we can't upload the information of biography ? If the user have to add the biography itself, and if he can't upload the biography ? Just an optionnal option for the most fan of cinema. 3/ Yes for the link, but i say for a movie player (winamp, movie player, BS player, IE player etc.). We have just to click on the play button to see the teaser. Or just allow to put a html code, in order to put it for example :
<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/Gnhl2Fax9i0&hl=fr&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Gnhl2Fax9i0&hl=fr&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
|

| Posted: | | | | you can accomplish 3 with html windows and/or plugins (load dvd)
also, you could probably use html windows for an actor biography. make an html cast listing and have the actor name be a link to a local html file with info about the actor

| Posted: | | | | What is wrong with using the Notes section for your Biographical data. Other than it the Notes are General for the whole Profile. This just me, but I have no desire to see this program become a version of IMDb, more accurate to be sure in some areas. Why do we need to re-invent the wheel, you want biographical, some other user will or does want Trivia, somebody else wants Box Office data, someone will want memorable quotes and so on. All of these are IMDb for those who are interested in such things. Next we wll want pictures of headstones for those that have passed.<scary thought>

Skip How do you assign biographical data to notes? Biographical data is about an individual, the notes section is for a profile (set, disc, movie, &c.) | | | Adelaide Movie Buffs (info on special screenings, contests, bargains, etc. relevant to Adelaideans... and contests/bargains for other Aussies too!) |

| Posted: | | | | That would be easy, you simply list each individual you are attaching notes about.

While it isn't in the program, you can set this up on your own. Other people have done it here. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. True...though I recall under the old DVDP there was an option to have your collection Public or Semi-Public (which were identical as no differences were implemented) and I'm sure this could be re-introduced if Ken wanted | | | It is dangerous to be right in matters where established men are wrong |

Skip Yes, that would work, but the problem is that for each profile, you would have to re-input that same data each time. Say I have 5 movies with Tom Cruise in them. With the notes (which are linked to a profile), I would have to copy-paste the info 5 times in each individual profile. If you like the biography to the actor/crew member, you only need to input it once and each time that person is added to a profile, the biography is there. I believe this is the OP's intent. Personally, I don't have a need for that but I can understand it might be useful for some people and I can understand they want to link that info directly to each individual actor or crew member. | | | Blu-ray collection DVD collection My Games My Trophies |

If you add a bio for Tom Cruise in Top Gun, said bio won't be displayed for any of his other movies. You would have to manually add every bio to every profile and then scroll through the profile notes looking for the bio in question when wanting to review it. And then if you change the bio on one profile, you would have to hunt down and update every other copy. Not really useful. |

| Posted: | | | | At this particular juncture, I don't think bio data would be agood idea, maybe down the road at some point. For one thing where is the data for the bio going to come from and i'll shoot the first person that mentions it, and you know what my answer would be.

Skip Maybe we could get it from IMD.... Nevermind. |
