| Posted: | | | | After restoring XP so that the OS will work, now DVD Profiler wont work. The app almost immediately dies at startup with the following message, "Access violation at address 00AC3244 in module 'dvdpro.exe'. Write of address 000000014.
i deinstalled the app and reinstalled the app, which did not fix the problem. I ran the database repair utility which also did not fix the problem. Any suggestions to fix?
oh, was using reinstall of latest version 3.5.1. (also... all other windows apps are working.) | | | Last edited: by roflmao |

| Posted: | | | | Were is your database located. Write access to certain folders may not be allowed, certainly if you are not logged on as administrator.
Try moving it to c:\documents and settings\"username"\My Documents. | | | View my collection at http://www.chriskepolis.be/home/dvd.htm

| Posted: | | | | thanks for the suggestion. checked out path and all files appear fine at, "C:\Documents and Settings\<name>\My Documents\DVD Profiler". The Databases\Default directory is updated upon a repair database ok. still dies in about 2 seconds. |

| Posted: | | | | Did you Reinstall DVD Profiler after the XP fix?
If all you did was repair the XP install, then you might have lost some registry entries that DVDProfiler looks for. Try uninstalling DVD Profiler and then reinstalling it again. | | | Chris |

| Posted: | | | | It probably is a windows issue, but windows repair ran and it thinks all is well. I have uninstalled/reinstalled all of dvdprofiler many times. I removed the program files/dvd profiler directory and data directory prior to reinstall (and after the windows repair). The tohama font is on the system. still dies in about 2 seconds (maybe only 1 second).
thanks for any suggestions you may have to check out. (i even tried the debugger option in VS2005, but the exe does not have the files to support that to help out much.)
Any other ideas? (also... all other windows apps are working.)
checking regedit i found: My Computer\HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Applications\DVDPRO.exe with REGSIZ value not set, is that important? the path is correct if you go down the interface.
i uninstalled the csvplugin, but it was still in the registry. I removed those elements from the registry and i still get the error. now i get the address error with value "00ABF1D0". Is there a way to remove all DVDPro registry entries including plugins, that actually does? like a strick checkbox or somehting. Since all is working, EXCEPT, dvdprofiler i was wondering if there is something in the registry to fix? | | | Last edited: by roflmao |

| Posted: | | | | The HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT key is not present on my PC either.
To clean the registry, first de-install dvdpro.
Then in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software, delete the subtree "Invelos Software".
I believe that is the only entry in the registry. Then re-install the application. Hope that helps. | | | View my collection at http://www.chriskepolis.be/home/dvd.htm

| Posted: | | | | ran windows and office update. a few security patches. uninstalled dvdprofiler, then cleaned system registry. reinstalled dvdprofiler, dies. now the address is 00AC3244 in module dvdpro.exe if that means anything.
other than dvdprofiler the system is running great. any ideas why dvdprofiler wont work? I installed on a separate system and it worked fine. |

| Posted: | | | | Are you installing the app in the default directory? What directory is it installing to? Can you create another directory in the same directory (ie: C:\Program Files)? |

| Posted: | | | | During uninstall operation (checking all 3 boxes for full removal), i deleted the c:\program files\dvd* directory. So reinstall was to a 'new' directory down program files (with the same name - default dir name). So tested for that. Still fails. weird. Unless you are suggesting another directory destination other than default. i will try and see. |

| Posted: | | | | Hey Guys, I have been posting here as well with the same problem. I thought it was that I was running Vista64bit but it seems that its a program issue not an operating system issue. I think that is a coincidence that both me and roflmao installed DVD profiler today and we both are having the same problem. Could it be that DVD Profiler downloads have been corrupted or there is a problem with the program and maybe an update to Windows that might have happended in the last few days. It think its weird that both of us have the same problem, with different systems. One question for roflmao, are you installing then trying to restore from your online database like I am? |

| Posted: | | | | I may have another tip for you guys.
When downloading the program, do not run it at the end of the download, but in stead, save it to your desktop.
Then rightclick the installer file, and choose "Run as administrator". | | | View my collection at http://www.chriskepolis.be/home/dvd.htm

| Posted: | | | | Thanks cvermeylen, I tried it this morning. It didnt work. I was able to install a fresh, blank copy of DVD Pro and add movies individually, but when I try to download from my online collection it goes berzerk. Any chance the online collections are corrupted? What about downloading the online collection to a file and then adding them to your program, is this possible? |
