| Posted: | | | | Are the people listed within an ADR Group classified as Cast or Crew? See this thread for the ongoing discussion. | | | Kevin |

| Posted: | | | | IMO, they are crew, except in the rare situation they are listed with the cast (like stunt people) |

| Posted: | | | | They are undoubtly cast (= actors, as they have the same job as voices in animated movies), but that doesn't mean they must be contributed in all cases (depends where they are listed). For contribution, just follow rules (as for crew (= technicians), only contribute what is listed in the rules, and not what people want, as we can see for creature designer crew). The wording of the pole is twisted... | | | Images from movies | | | Last edited: by surfeur51 |

| Posted: | | | | I think Charlie has the best idea: unless they are credited with the rest of the cast, I'd treat them as crew. |

| Posted: | | | | Unless they are appended to the cast list, which I personally have never seen, they are crew, and should not be contributed. | | | View my collection at http://www.chriskepolis.be/home/dvd.htm

Please point out the exact words that are twisted. I realize that English is not your native language, but I am not sure how much simpler to word the question. You have only two options : cast > contributed crew > not contributed. For me, it's cast and generally not contributed. And about role names not listed, I can show you dozens of profiles with a cast list without roles... When I spoke of role, I meant ADR people's participation in a movie is the same as an actor's voice in animated movie : for me, they are cast (= "actors") and not crew (= "technicians") : I edited my first post to be more clear. | | | Images from movies | | | Last edited: by surfeur51 |

| Posted: | | | | Okay, I understand what you are saying about the poll. If they are cast, as you say, why are the not contributed? Are you saying they are generally not contributable or that people mistakenly leave them out? | | | Kevin |

If they are in the cast list (rare), contribute, if not, do not contribute. What is funny here is to see people that blatantly violate rules to contribute creature designers they wish, have the exactly opposite position about other people they do not want to see in the online. | Posted: | | | | Since looping is usually done by the actual actors, I always thought that the people listed under ADR were the crew handling the ADR equipment, not the voice actors. But maybe that's a misconception on my part. | | | My freeware tools for DVD Profiler users. Gunnar |

| Posted: | | | | Not always, gunnar. You described what I think would be ADR Editors. Or maybe ADR Recordists, but we don't include ANYBODY in ADR at this time. Tomorrow who knows, that is up to Ken.

It's more likely those listed under "loop" are those providing the background voices and general hubbub for the extras etc. It's also common in horror movies if an actor can't scream very well, to get an ADR voice actor to give you a better one! |

| Posted: | | | | As I said in the other thread, I would prefer that we simply leave them all out. They are crew...otherwise they would have been given a role as opposed to a crew title. Are they performers? Yes, but so are stunt doubles...dance stand ins...body doubles...the list goes on and on. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. | Posted: | | | | The decision is up to Ken, but Unicus you make a very strong case...we have to draw the line somewhere and the line has been drawn in the Rules, al that has to be done is follow them. What happens in the next version is not relevant to NOW.

Quote: They are undoubtly cast (they have the same role as voices in animated movies), They do? I have never seen an ADR group with role names listed, please provide a screen shot of ONE film where this is the case. And what exactly does that prove? I have seen quite a lot of movies without any rolenames for the cast section. Following your argument would that mean they're not to be entered? Seriously: ADR group is quite comparable to "Additional Voices" in animated movies (which we do parse). Can you show me only ONE movie where the additional voices got an extra rolename attached? EDIT: What I see though is that the majority of the participants of this poll doesn't want them to be entered. We should only be aware that it's not really a matter of the rules (as they exist now), but more a matter of preferences if ADR group is entered or not. If the majority or Ken decides that these are not to be entered ... so be it. I really don't care either way. Both sides have very good argument on their sides. Let's calm this down and wait how Ken and Gerri decide | | | It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up! But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?
