| Posted: | | | | I have well over 300 DVD's in my collection, if I download and purchase this software, is there a way to add all of these DVD's at once? In other words, I have access to a bar code scanner from work I can barrow, so do I have to scan each DVD, wait for it to load into the data base or into DVD Profiler then go on to the next DVD? Or can I scan a bunch of DVD's bar codes one right after the other, until I have scanned all of them, THEN hit a button to add all to the profiler catalog database? | | | "Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Another option, I believe, is to generate a spreadsheet of all your barcodes, and then use a plugin to suck that list into profiler and then do the downloads. |

| Posted: | | | | I have used the older "FREE" version of DVD Profiler, but now I am ready to upgrade to the full version. Where is the option to add multiple bar codes? | | | "Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote." Ben Franklin |

| Posted: | | | | As mdnitoil says, as long as your barcode scanner works by outputting the barcode number as a standard number you can scan in a bunch at once before downloading. You can add up to 49 profiles for free before the program becomes restricted (some things will stop working, including plugins, but you can still add more profiles). Just remember to clear the "prompt for personalisation" box otherwise it'll ask you for that info with every scan. |

When you have the Add DVD window open, there's a tickbox in the bottom left marked "prompt for personalisation". If you clear this box you should be able to scan multiple barcodes at once - the program should only stop you if it finds more than one match for your barcode, or no match. |

| Posted: | | | | Thanks for all of the help. I'll re-install the free version first and try the bar code scanner to see if it will work BEFORE I buy the compete version. | | | "Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Jldhawk mentioned that it was an older free program. So I'm guessing version 2? I think I remember someting like the old version needed a special scanner-"plug in", as we did not enter ALL digits of UPC/EAN, while new DVDP uses standard (keyboard emulating) interface for scanning and ALL digits. I use the "Symbol LS1900T" w. USB i/f. | | | Karsten |

You can do that with a plugin: either UPC Import or BulkEdit. | | | Thanks for your support. Free Plugins available here. Advanced plugins available here. Hey, new product!!! BDPFrog. |

Does your barcode scanner send a "carriage return" signal after it's scanned the barcode. Are you able to configure it so it does? It's been a really long time since I've done it, but in the past I've been able to scan multiple DVDs into the list, before click on "Add to Owned" only once at the end - I don't believe I ever needed to use "Add DVD". |

| Posted: | | | | Even if you can't make it work, I would suggest you seriously consider the program. 300 is a lot to enter, but it's certainly a workable number. And the initial input is a one time chore. Once you have that out of the way, you'll be able to enjoy this wonderful software for as long as you track DVDs. It would be a shame to move on different (and possibly lesser) software just to save yourself a few hours of hassle up front. | | | Get the CSVExport and Database Query plug-ins here. | Posted: | | | | I've just tried this by scanning a few DVDs into an empty database and it worked fine. If your barcode scanner can't be configured to add a carriage return to the end of every number, then try just hitting Enter on the keyboard. Not as good as being able to scan them in at once, but it should be easier than using the mouse to click the Add DVD button. |

| Posted: | | | | I was only able to add all of the DVD's one at a time via the "Add DVD" Button. But it is now done, thanks for all of your help, I do like this software, still using the free version for now. | | | "Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch.
