You should seriously try to deinstall the software. Then remove the following folders (if they are still there):

C:\Documents and Settings\arfa\Application Data\DVD Profiler\
C:\Documents and Settings\arfa\My Documents\DVD Profiler\

And then try to re-install the software.

WHen you open "My Computer" on your desktop, hit F3. The search will come up.

When you get the error message, which option are you selecting when you continue?
It's possible the fault is with the database, not the program so try selecting the option to create a new, blank database and see if it will open and close an empty database without errors.

Anything you like. The default name for a database is "Default", but you could call it "My DVDs" or anything you like.

If we can get your program up and running again, an eagle-eyed colleague has spotted quite a few of your DVDs are added as "manual profiles" - this may be the reason you can't refresh their images. But we can look at that once Profiler is working again.

Do you mean download the program again? If it's installing I don't think you've got a corrupt downloaded file.

So even if you have a new, empty database you still get the error message? That's a worry. It can't be a corrupt profile if there are no profiles!

at the moment it is uninstalled but I cant get rid of the logo on my desktop it just sits there with its one eye looking at me. I wonder if I could just start with a blank database and start from scratch it wouldnt cause all this trouble i'm causing

You mean the blue splash screen?
If that's still visible then it means the program is still technically running so may not uninstall correctly. Go into task manager and look for DVD Profiler under Applications or dvdpro.exe under Processes and stop it. Then try and uninstall it.

The reason I wanted to see if Profiler would run using an empty database is because if it does then it means the fault lies with either the database as a whole or one of the profiles. If Profiler still won't run with an empty database then the problem is bigger.
