You won't be alone.  Since we refer to our timezones as geographic names, there are a bunch of US folks that don't really know what their zone is in reference to GMT.  I never bothered to figure it out until I started traveling internationally.

In Arizona we don't play that daylight saving time game, except for Indian lands.
We remain GMT-7 all year round.
I remember when they it I think it was back in the sixties, it didn't dark enough for the drive in movies
to start until after 10 PM. Are there any drive ins left?

Not only that, but during the summers people didn't like the idea that it was 7, 8, even 9pm at night and the sun was still shining, so they abandoned daylight savings time in favor of cooler nightime!!!
