| Posted: | | | | For those who might not go there the discussion of how to profile the Bonus DVD started over here. Is it a third disc on the Blu-ray profile or a DVD that should be profiled separately and treated as a box set child? (Packaging would indicate it's not a permanent feature of the Blu-ray - separate envelope outside the BD case) For myself i like the second option and have submitted a profile based on the Disc ID. | | | Bad movie? | Posted: | | | | I would treat it as a bonus film, like the Ben-Hur example in the rules. That should keep everyone happy -those that want the profile, and those that want the third disc. |

| Posted: | | | | So leave the Disc ID in the main profile and create a separate profile for the DVD with linkage via the box set feature? That certainly works.
Edited after i found a clue. | | | Bad movie? You're soaking in it! | | | Last edited: by tweeter |

It belongs in Other Features just as the Digital Copy that comes with DVD releases does. | | | My WebGenDVD online Collection |

One big difference between Digital Copies and this disc is Digital Copy discs i've seen have no readable IDs (they aren't DVDs) while this disc is a full up DVD. It could be considered a "Companion Movie Bonus" which is one of the examples for Bonus Films. You are correct it isn't a different version (the nominal case) but it is " any feature film that is included as part of the bonus material for a single release" as the Rules state. | | | Bad movie? The examples given are: "Companion movie bonuses, example "Season of the Witch" which includes "There's Always Vanilla" from the same director." These are different film's from the same director...not the same film in a different format. | | | My WebGenDVD online Collection |

| Posted: | | | | How are HD-DVD/DVD combos handled? If this Blu-Ray/DVD combo is going to be a trend, perhaps they should be handled the same way? | | | My WebGenDVD online Collection |

| Posted: | | | | But Tweeter has a point. The rules don't say "any different feature film", they just say "any feature film included as part of the bonus material". This is a feature film and it is included as a bonus to the main release. That to me meets the criteria for this rule. |

I would say this is different. The DVD side of a combo disc wasn't presented as bonus feature. If however they do start looking at "combo" releases for blu-ray this would certainly have to be re-evaluated. |

HD-DVD/DVD combo discs are combined on single media (flipper discs). You capture the IDs and edit the description to indicate Main Feature (media) and that's it. It's treated like a Widescreen/Full Screen flipper. The DVD with the Blu-ray is physically separate media ( and in this case packaging). Based on packaging (separate envelope stuck [but removable] to the outside of the Blu-ray keep case) the DVD is a bonus that won't be provided forever. They've certainly left that option open. | | | Bad movie? You're soaking in it! |

| Posted: | | | | Since the bonus dvd is only being included for a limited time, I think it should be handled like store exclusive bonus dvds are handled. it should have it's own complete profile. Attaching it to or listing it as a bonus feature to the blu-ray disc doesn't make any sense to me since people who buy it later will not get it.
IMO, it would be like listing a Best Buy exclusive bonus dvd for one of the 'Lost' Season sets as the seventh disc on the main profile, or writing it into other special features field when not everyone will have that bonus disc. |
