How is the video output surpasssed? It's still 1080p? The audio is still lossless as (if) encoded on the disc?
What am I missing? For video output, a more focused laser can yeild a better picture. The audio, via HDMI, on the other hand, is still bit for bit identical. Therefore, only level matching is needed between bitstreaming and decoding the audio internally. To answer your question, you aren't missing much of anything. | | | To err is human...

Correct me please, if I am wrong: - The video (and audio) on a blu-ray disk is a compressed stream of data. - The laser in the player is used to read the data from the disk. - The Player uncompresses the data and send's it via HDMI to the TV, projector, Audio Equipment,... whatever. A defocused laser would produce read errors, which results in decoding errors and affects video and audio quality. On the other hand, if the laser works correct, than there are no read errors and video and audio replay can not be enhanced by a sharper or more focused laser. IMHO a better image processing may yield a better picture. A more focused laser affects either both, video and audio replay or none of them. Dieter |
