I'd like to see support added to allow disc ids to be scanned for Blu-Rays & HD-DVDs on pc BR/HD disc drives. There are a few demos and such out there that have no UPC. Examples: the CES DTS & Dolby Demos, I'm sure there are others as well.

Just wishful thinking I suppose...

I can say for sure that HD DVD is going to be done also... but I do remember that recently Ken said he got a Blue Ray drive to add it. (He could have got both... don't remember for sure)... so look for it in the next beta.

I've been looking at this one myself. Not quite ready to grab it though.

That is indeed quite an investment. But I don't need a dual-drive; I don't need HD DVD at all.

I'll also want to have a look at what software is/will be available for Mac OS X (my operating system), since I don't want to use it within the VM only.

I agree. I paid quite a bit more a few months ago. But on the plus side I can report satisfactory operation on all my BD and HD except one - but I suspect a bad disc and have returned it to Amazon for replacement. I feel that I can safely recommend it if anyone is considering purchase.
Thanks for your support.

You can also get a Lite-On Blu-ray SATA Drive for a $139.99 at Newegg.  I've picked up one for myself last month when I built a new system and ended up getting one for the system I built for my brother as a wedding gift as well.  Coupled with a high end video card that is HDCP-compliant and using PowerDVD 8 Ultra, it can seemingly handle anything.

I just bought this one (Shipping soon) as I have no need for a dual format, nor a burner at this point.

Edit: I believe it's the same model as the one at Best Buy, but it's $149.99 at Amazon.

Anyone know the system requirements for this drive.

I've currently got an HD-DVD drive in my PC which I plan to dump (only HD DVD disc I own is the one that came with the PC).

I've got a dual core processor 6600 @ 2.4 GHz, 4 GB RAM,  NVidia GeForce 7600 GT running XP Profession Media Center.

I thought I read on several Blu Ray drives that I looked at, that they required Vista.

Anyone install one of these on XP yet?
