| Posted: | | | | DVD: When Trumpets Fade How do you credit these guy's? There is a contribution where the credit changes to this: Gy. Sgt. Brian / Hicks USMC as 1st Sergeant > Brian / Hicks [Gy. Sgt. Brian Hicks USMC] as 1st Sergeant Cpl. John / Miller USMC as Radio Man > John / Miller [Cpl. John Miller USMC] as Radio Man my feeling none of them are correct: USMC should not be there (affiliation) however this is mentioned for crew only: Quote: Do not enter union/guild affiliations, such as A.C.E. and B.O.E. | | | Sources for one or more of the changes and/or additions were not submitted. | Posted: | | | | If "Gy. Sgt. Brian Hicks USMC" and "Cpl. John Miller USMC" are commonly named with their suffixes they should be entered with them into the database. The union/guild affiliation for United States Marine Corps however is not allowed as per rules for both crew and cast and should not be entered. | | | Martin Zuidervliet

| Posted: | | | | I agree that the actor name should John / Miller as credited "Cpl. John Miller USMC". It makes sense... The guy last name is not "Miller USMC".
However, he appears in only ONE movie. So he could be credited either way, it won't have any impact or benefit either way. Worse... It could lead to confusion with another John Miller, who has many credited movies and will require the use of the Birth Year to distinguish the two persons.
So, in the end... it seem easier to leave him credited as Cpl. John / Miller USMC |

| Posted: | | | | I hardly would call USMC a union/guild affiliation. I would include it. I consider it closer to an MD type of listing.

| Posted: | | | | I agree with Skip, these are not 'union/guild affiliations'. The 'USMC' is often done because ranks can be the same across different branches of the armed forces. This is to show, out of respect for the people and their loyalty to their branch, that they are Marines and not in the Army. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. | Posted: | | | | I would agree with including the USMC. In my opinion, I would consider as all part of his rank, which was included in these credits.

Gy. Sgt. Brian Hicks USMC is credited this way:
Cpl. John / Miller USMC is credited this way: I would go with Gy. Sgt. Brian//Hicks USMC and Cpl. John//Miller USMC as they are prefixes and suffixes and don't really count as names in themselves. |

| Posted: | | | | I agree with you guys: it's Gy. Sgt. Brian//Hicks USMC. I wonder, though, whether the "strictly positional" parsers would object to such a parsing if not thoroughly documented to show that "UMSC" was actually part of SGT. BRIAN HICK's rank, as it obviously appears to be, and not his "last name". Just kidding. | | | -- Enry | | | Last edited: by White Pongo, Jr. |
