| Posted: February 26, 2008 8:42 PM | | | | Hi all,
There is a currently a profile for the DVD "Toto: Live in Amsterdam" in the Dutch locality, whereas this is a DVD from a UK distributor (Eagle Rock) and it is not specifically for the Dutch market. So I want to submit the profile to be removed for the given locality, but if I just submit it just like it is, there are no changes, so all I can do is cancel the submission. What is the correct way to go about this?
Any help will be greatly appreciated. |

There are some European online stores where you can buy R1 and R3 DVDs: would the Locality of the store apply? Or the Locality of the store only applies when there is a "global" edition like that Toto DVD and no other localized edition? | | | -- Enry |

| Posted: February 27, 2008 9:05 AM | | | | my understanding is that location is where you buy the DVD (country) if you buy at USA or Canadian or German Webshop that is where the location is where you obtained the dvd. there are instances where Companys denied the sale of goods from another countries in to a specifique country due to the copywrights on that product. | | | Sources for one or more of the changes and/or additions were not submitted. | Posted: February 27, 2008 9:36 AM | | | | As I've stated in my contribution notes the locality is in this case invalid, as it is not a release particularly for the Dutch market, it is a European release. Therefore the UK profile is the valid profile as the distributor is a UK company.
I have a DVD box set of Jethro Tull (Jethro Tull: Living with the Past/Nothing Is Easy: Live at the Isle of Wight 1970) of which the Dutch profile was removed for exactly the same reason, so why should that not be the case here? | | | Last edited: February 27, 2008 9:52 AM by apltm |

I bought several official American region 1-releases right here in The Netherlands. That doesn't make the locality of those DVD's 'The Netherlands', though. | | | Last edited: February 27, 2008 9:41 AM by T!M |

If you were right, over here in austria we would be forced to duplicate each and every profile since most of them have locality "Germany" - since this is the bigger market. - Only some Austrian productions and some very rare Austian synced movies are released specially for Austria... | Posted: February 27, 2008 1:19 PM | | | | Locality is NOT necessarily the country where you bought the DVD, but the country or countries the DVD was released in. Often, the ratings listed on the cover will tell you in which country or countries a DVD was released. And YES, there are quite a few international (or rather: MULTInational) releases out there, for which several localities may be used (using the part of the Overview with the language(s) used in that particular locality). E.g. single releases for the Nordic countries, for the Benelux countries, music releases for Europe etc. I'd like to refer to this threadand this one. | | | Last edited: February 27, 2008 1:20 PM by dee1959jay |

That makes me wonder, though. There are some European online stores where you can buy R1 and R3 DVDs: would the Locality of the store apply? Or the Locality of the store only applies when there is a "global" edition like that Toto DVD and no other localized edition? Buying R! and R3 DVDs in Europe could NEVER result in a European locality for these DVDs. DVDP won't let you contribute them for a R2 locality, as they are NTSC rather than PAL and as far as I'm aware nowadays DVDP checks this. |
