| Posted: | | | | SOLVED (BUG) Full details 7 posts down. When you move a DVD between the Owned/Ordered/Wish List tabs, it does not remove it from any box sets it was previously assigned to. -------------------------------------------------------------- I'm trying to move a profile under another and, well, I can't. I'm editing a child profile trying to assign a profile to it like I've done many times in the past. Can anyone tell me why the Babylon 5 Legend of the Rangers entry in the left side isn't showing up in the list of available profiles to assign? Avalon and The Beastmaster lie above and below it and they both show up. | | | Last edited: by Dr. Killpatient |

| Posted: | | | | I've run into this several times. In my cases, it's because I previously had that profile assigned to a different box set. So if I have something in my TV box set in my Wishlist, I can move it to Owned just fine and everything appears normal. But it's still part of the TV box set in the wishlist and I can't add it to anything else until I remove it from that box set first. I suspect you're having the same issue. | | | Get the CSVExport and Database Query plug-ins here. Create fake parent profiles to organize your collection. |

| Posted: | | | | Nope, it's not currently assigned to another box set and is sitting at the top level. But if you notice, sister box sets such as "Battlestar Galactica" and it's children are listed in the available titles. These are all in my Owned list. Sort title is the same as the DVD title.
I even scrolled through the entire list, nowhere to be found. Just to make sure it's clear, I'm currently editing the Babylon 5 profile that's highlighted on the upper left corner.
Any other ideas? | | | Last edited: by Dr. Killpatient |

| Posted: | | | | Maybe because it's part of the "boxset" TV Series? Also, I don't see the Battlestar entries in the list on the left (maybe they are not in the TV Series boxset?). | | | Hans |

| Posted: | | | | I'll guess you find it under 'L' in the list of profiles you can choose from Just check the 'Substring search' check box and search for Legend
If that doesn't help, have you tried to repair your DB? It solves more problems than you should think :-) | | | The colour of her eyes, were the colour of insanity | | | Last edited: by reybr |

Just to be clear, it may not be currently assigned to a parent in your collection, but still be assigned to another Box Set (which is not or at least no longer in your collection). At least with 2.4 this problem could occur occasionally... Just for a test you could (after making a backup of course) remove the profile and then add it again from the online database. (It should download without any Box Set associations.) If it then shows up in the list, then my suspicion was correct. If it still doesn't, then something else is weird. | | | Achim [諾亞信; Ya-Shin//Nuo], a German in Taiwan. Registered: May 29, 2000 (at InterVocative) |

| Posted: | | | | SOLVED - BUG (see last sentence)
ya-shin, you gave me the hint I needed to solve it.
In the owned list, it was not assigned to a box set. However, it was assigned to a box set in my wish list.
I took another profile that was assigned to a box set and moved it from my wish list to my owned list. It also did not show up in the list of available titles to assign to the box set that exists in the Owned list. When I moved it back to the wish list, it showed back up under the box set it was previously assigned to in the wish list.
When I viewed the box set contents in my wish list, the Babylon 5 DVD was still listed as a child even though that DVD was no longer in my wish list. When I removed the Babylon 5 DVD as a child in the box set in my wish list, it became available to assign in my owned list.
This means that there is a bug with the box sets in that when you move a DVD between the Owned/Ordered/Wish List tabs, it does not remove it from any box sets it was previously assigned to. | | | Last edited: by Dr. Killpatient |

Regardless, I'm glad you figured it out. It's a real headscratcher when it first happens. | | | Get the CSVExport and Database Query plug-ins here. I am not sure if both could work at the same time, but currently children of a Box Set will be moved when you move the parent. They don't show up immediately, sometimes, and a refresh of the list or even a restart of DVD Profiler may be necessary. Not sure it would be feasible to move chidlren wth the parent (keep them attached) but on the other hand detach children if moved without the parent... | | | Achim [諾亞信; Ya-Shin//Nuo], a German in Taiwan. | Posted: | | | | I would figure that if you moved a parent, all of it's children and grandchildren and so on would also move. Haven't tested that yet. But if you move an object, it should be detached from it's parent if any, like you said. However, restarting doesn't solve anything. The link is still there in the database and you can see it as a child if you view the apparently old parent that is in the other tab.
Probably just a fluke that it behaves normally for display until you try to assign it another parent. |

| Posted: | | | | I don't think that children should be detached when moved away from the parents. All my film box set parent profiles live in the ordered tab, while their children are of course living in the owned tab. I just happen to not care that much about the parent profiles. That way when browsing the owned collection, I can only see the individual films. But when browsing all collection I can see the complete box sets. |

If you tag all of the parents as "TV Boxsets", you can click that tag twice to show only the children or leave it unchecked altogether to show both parents and children. | | | Hal |

| Posted: | | | | I understand that it would be unfortunate for RHo, but I still say that children should be detached when moved about. It's not too hard to detach them manually, but it can be confusing when you don't understand what's happening. It does look like a bug. Plus is just seems logicial that if you removed something from a group that it's actually removed. | | | Get the CSVExport and Database Query plug-ins here. | Posted: | | | | *edit* see that it was solved, but leaving the answer to how to add the child profiles in case someone else has the same question. *end-edit*
There should be a few posts on it (try searching for box sets, or child profiles)
basically you add the box set (which it sounds like you have) and then add the profile for the movies in the box set. If they have their own upc add them using that, if not then add by disc ID.
After you add the child profiles in, edit the profile for the Box and then select the box set contents. You will then have a listing on left of all the individual profiles and then a listing on the right of all the profiles that are contents of the profile you are currently editing. You can then select the profile and move it into the box set.
Hope that's clear enough
