| Posted: | | | | We'll soon roll out a new system intended to reward positive helpful posts in our forums, and to deter negativity. Coding is complete and we are now testing in preparation for roll-out. Once launched, we'll monitor the impact and feedback, and make adjustments as required. The system works as follows:
- There are new buttons which will display next to forum posts, contribution comments, and commented contribution votes to rate the post positively or negatively. - The option to rate posts is available for 72 hours since the original post, or since it was last edited. - Rating posts is open to all paid user accounts, limited to 5 positive, 3 negative per day. - You may monitor your rating via the My Profiler->Reputation page. - User's rating scores will return to "normal" over time, in addition to the effects of updated user ratings. - Positive reputations will display next to the user's name in forum posts. Negative and neutral reputations will not display. - There are four levels of negative reputations: Warning (no restrictions), Low (Limited to 20 posts per day), Lower (Limited to 10 posts per day), and Very Low (Temporarily blocked from posts, including contribution and voting). - Posts edited by administrators are no longer eligible for ratings. - Invelos admins will monitor rating submissions. Negative ratings without cause will be removed and may result in submitter rating reduction and/or rating permission removal.
Bear in mind that all restrictions caused by a low reputation are temporary, as the system automatically returns user's reputation score to normal over time. The net impact is that no restriction lasts longer than 72 hours, unless impacted by further post evaluations. | | | Invelos Software, Inc. Representative | | | Last edited: by Ken Cole |

| Posted: | | | | Ken,
Just a thought, but rather than a restriction of # of posts per day as the rating goes down, perhpas a ban from posting for a # of days could be considered.
I don't know how many people post 20 times a day, or even 10, but I would think it is very few, so such a restriction may not have much impact on the vast majority of users.
At any rate, I think this is a great idea!
Thanks. | | | Hal |

| Posted: | | | | Very nice idea Ken. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom. Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand. The Centauri learned this lesson once. We will teach it to them again. Though it take a thousand years, we will be free. - Citizen G'Kar |

Could you expand on this? If I read it right, you are limited to a mix of votes and posts. Let's say you have reached the 20 post limit. If you vote on 10 profiles, then you can only make 10 forum posts. If you vote on 15 profiles, then you can only make 5 forum posts...hope that helps. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. | Posted: | | | | It's about time, moderation will be better but it's a start.
But I will prefer to cut the 2 middle steps, since the troublemakers could continue with 10 post, even with a single post.
first time : you receive a warning second time : you are ban for x weeks |
