What do you do if a cover doesnt exist
for a film

I submited a custom cover but it got rejected i presume for no barcode

I would prefer a custom cover to no cover

there's nothing wrong with having a custom cover for your local database, but only genuine covers are allowed in the online database.
Hopefully someone will come along with the proper cover for this film and scan it in, but until then you'll have to keep your custom covers (nice as they are) to yourself.

Shonk what you PREFER is completely and totally irrelevant, follow the Rules. We don't use or accept custom covers for the Online, it's a legal issue, what you do locally is your business.

Umm
where do i start

I was simply asking what happens in cases where there is no orig cover (one wasnt made)
and asking what happens

This film was only ever released as a free dvd as a promo for the remake
and as such no cover exists

I dont need the rules thrown at me

You could just explain it nicely

Shonk...don't mind Skip...unfortunately he's a bit of a Dick...at least he plays one on these boards. PR work is not his strong point...he's a database guru...that's what he tells us anyway.

Perhaps i should say you are a bit of an ass, Bodi. But I won't, your comment was unnecessary, insulting and inflammatory. Some people don't have any appreciation for direct, no-nonsense answers.

There really is no reason this DVD should not be allowed in the database. There are many currently like it in there. "Up From Zero"comes to mind. It has no UPC. It was available just by requesting it. The DVDs received with Papa Johns pizzas used to be in the DB (not sure if they still are...only had one and gave it away). I know there's promo discs from magazines as well

I would suggest submitting again and pointing out it is a legitimate DVD in your notes. Tell where you got it and be sure to use the DVD itself for any other portions you are submitting.

It's the artwork, Rick, key word Custom Cover. Up from Zero has a cover bad analogy. I agree the data should be there, the Cover is another story altogether.

You are totally within your rights to make any cover you like for your personal collection.

Unfortunately like was stated ... they are not allowed in the online database.

Furthermore there has to be a UPC connected to it which there is not for this disc.

Just keep your stuff local ... no reason you can not enjoy having a cover for it.

If it came in a sleeve, then it came in a sleeve.  Does the sleeve have any artwork on it?

Is there art on the sleeve the disc came in? If so that is what should be contributed. There are several like that. Look up Warner Brothers Commemorative DVD in the database and you can see that the cover art is the scanned sleeve.

It is unfortunate that you do not have your original sleeve.  That would have been acceptable as a cover image.  The image you found, because it has a 'watermark', is not.
