Sources for changes? All these profiles are new... Did you list your sources? Do you think that the screener(s) can read your mind? All submissions need sources listed. pdf | | | Paul Francis San Juan Capistrano, CA, USA |

| Posted: | | | | Source = DVD ?
For changes in an existing profile I understand that source is needed to justify the change but for a new profile I don't really know what to write... |

Even with a new title your notes become part fo the record for that title and the Rules still must be followed. Which means don't simply throw the data up on the wall and see if it sticks...it won't. Provide documentation fo WHATEVER you are doing?

Did you enter uncredited cast? If so, you must source their appearance in the movie.
The times when all you needed to type for a new submission was "New profile" are gone, and we're all better off for it.
In a nutshell: handle every submission like making changes to an existing profile, it may seem futile, but future users of your profile will be able to check the correctness of your data if you tell us where you got it from to begin with. | | | Lutz |

You are right. Two other profile without cast & crew were approved. In fact this is the first time in years that I take the time to include cast & crew in my contributions (who says lazy ) |

Skip I do submit sources not just for cast and crew, also for other fields, but sometimes I wonder whether I provide too much detail. For instance, "Overview and Rating from back cover...", "Features from DVD menu"... I think it's useful anyway. Or maybe I am stating the obvious? | | | -- Enry |

I do submit sources not just for cast and crew, also for other fields, but sometimes I wonder whether I provide too much detail. For instance, "Overview and Rating from back cover...", "Features from DVD menu"... I think it's useful anyway. Or maybe I am stating the obvious? it is definitely useful info... the more info you provide the better it is for everyone... Since you put "Features from DVD menu" I know ahead of time you didn't use the DVD case (Which can either be wrong at times or they may not list everything)... so I don't have to guess and go behind you to double check that you have everything as it actually is on the disc. "Overview and rating from back cover" I would even go a bit further on... rating from back cover is cool in my opinion but for overview I usually put something like... Quote: Overview to match back cover as per Rules... all bold/Italic words highlighted with single quotes as per rules. That way there is no guessing that has to be done. I try to keep it basic.... like Cast/character list taken from credits in order of credits instead of listing every cast member I changed... but over-all I feel the more you put in the notes the better off you are. That is my opinion at least. | | | Pete |

well... maybe if the source of the info was put into the notes as we are required to do then all the profiles would be approved. If you don't do it the way it is required to be done then you need to expect it to be declined. | | | Pete |

Do it by the Rules, nonsense. Yves wants things done his way, not Profiler.

What I mean is that rules should precise that profiles that are empty on overview, cast and crew (at least director) would be declined. The purpose of contribution is not to put one's name on a list, it is to help other users. | | | Images from movies | | | Last edited: by surfeur51 |

| Posted: | | | | Well, I don't see the need for that.
As a matter of fact, I don't really care too much about cast & crew data. It's nice that it's there, but for me, personally, it's definitely too much work to enter it, and it already was before the rules got stricter in this field.
However, I do like to have the other data, so declining profiles that don't carry c&c would be catering to the needs of some users, but not all.
And without proper documentation, the data provided might be incorrect, causing further work for others down the line. | | | Lutz |

The purpose of contribution is not to put one's name on a list, it is to help other users. But there is no requirement on how much you need to do... nor should there be. as long as the info you do is correct per the rules and documented well in the contribution notes... it should not matter how big... or how little your contribution is. Not everyone is comfortable with doing... or cares enough about certain fields to do those sections... like I couldn't care less about the crew section... and the rules for the crew section is confusing to me... so I never update that section.... nor should I be forced to. And what about pre-releases?... how would we even have our pre-release section then? until it is released cast/crew/overview is not available for us. | | | Pete |
