| Posted: | | | | Is there a way to have the "real name" appear by default in the "cast", just like it does when one captures it.
For instance: Eileen Wells, credited as Eileen Welles appears as Eileen Wells (Eileen Welles) in capture mode. Once the movie is saved, then only the alias appears by default. One has to double click on the alias to list the "real" name.
To me, the TRUE name is desired -- just an option I'd like to have. If it's there I can't find it.
Thanks,

There is no way to do that at this time. The system is based upon the film credits. But this would seem to be a rational issue for Program at the local level.

If you don't care to have the 'credited as' alternate name, you can change it to match the name. Then you'll only see the name. | | | ...James

It is very easy to do in your local database. When you edit actors, you use the name you want, and don't use the "as credited" feature. I personally have no "as credited" actor in my local database, and I find it far more convenient. | | | Images from movies |

Somebody wrote that nonsense. There is a very large difference between what rules ask for the online database, and what you can easily do in local. | | | Images from movies |

I do not see any insult to say it is a nonsense to write that there is no way to do something, when it is very easy to do it. The user that wrote this false assertion is a confirmed user of dvdprofiler, so he knew exactly how to answer the question of rickzilla. But instead of explaining the different possibilities with their advantages and inconveniences, it seems that he preferred to lie blatantly to impose his solution. | | | Images from movies |

| Posted: | | | | Now you see this is where you are clueless, he seemed to be suggesting a switch to me, which we do NOT have at this time, but might NOT be a bad idea. That is also why I responded to James' comment as i did. So you choose to come in and post insulting drivel without understanding what was going on. How typical. Skip | | | ASSUME NOTHING!!!!!! | Posted: | | | | In all fairness, the initial post asked "Is there a way to have the "real name" appear by default".
That tells me that the user wants to have BOTH the "real name" as well as the "as credited" name in their database, but rather than having a default of displaying the "as credited" name, he wants to be able to change the default to show the "real name".
As Skip points out, there is no way to do that today.
James' suggestion clearly says "If you don't care to have the 'credited as' alternate name...".
When I read the initial post, I "assumed" that he wanted to retain both, but wanted DVDP to display "real name" as opposed to "as credited" name.
Therefore, James' suggestion, although it would display "real name", does not fully address the initial question. | | | Hal | | | Last edited: by hal9g |
