Hi All,

Yes it's true, after a move ( What near a bloody year ago ) I am back.....so sue me, I was tired after a long move  ! My old account was deleted, so I had to re-sign back up  but alas, I am back  .

So I was asking a few people at my work today what they thought was the scariest movie they had ever seen was. And baring a few movie freaks ( Yes, like us ) they all had pretty normal responses ( Although the guy who said "Susperia" is now my hero, and has the key to my desk where I keep all my Kit-Kat bar's). But it got me wondering, just what in-fact was my choice of the mainstream horror/scare flicks ? Seeing as I have seen more horror movies than 99% of the planet, it really had the wheels turning....so on my way home, I decided to make a list of the mainstream movies that I thought would make up the best tournament. "But Rimmer" you ask.... "Your Rimmer ... where are the hardcore horror scare movies that you watch, you know the ones....that make most people pee there pants!?"

Ok, I could have made one of those tournaments with movies like "Susperia" or "Otogiriso" but I wanted everyone to be able to take part in this...so without further ado, the rules are as follows :

Place your vote on the battle at hand, but explain why. People actually want to know what you think ( Except that one guy sitting in the corner mumbling something along the lines of "I'll show the world, then they will care" to himself. But ignore him and let us know what you think! Nobody will judge you for it! ( Again, with exception of the guy in the corner - but who cares about him! ) Every 2 days or so, I will tally up the results, and the winner will move on! Once that happens a new round begins, until alas we have our winner.

Below you will find the brackets that I have made. Enjoy and remember to have fun !

- Rimmer

Look, I'm not much good at big speeches, and I know I haven't always been an easy guy to get on with, and I know, that given the choice, I wouldn't have chosen you as friends, but I just want to say, that over the years, I have come to regard you as people I met.

Ok, so to kick it off I voted "The Decent". I know, Evil Dead is a classic. But there were a few parts in The Decent that actually made me jump. Evil Dead will always be a cult classic with horror fans, mainly because "Ash" is well, "Ash"! But to me, "Ash" only really became that lovable character in Army of Darkness. Before that, he was just semi-cool. The Decent, actually suprised the crap out of me. Here I was thinking "Ok, my wife wants to watch this because its a horror movie with an all female cast. Unlike A LOT of horror movie fans, I rarely like horror movies with sex scenes, and really rely on them trying to scare me more than seeing boobs. So here I was thinking, " Great, all female cast...this is going to be about as much fun as watching figure skating on a warm summer's day ". But as a complete and utter suprise this movie was actually pretty damn good!

Thats my pick, and I'm sticking to it.

I voted for The Descent.

I've never seen it, but Evil Dead 2 never scared me. I've always seen it as comedy-horror

Evil Dead 2 is fantastic, but The Descent is a proper, old fashioned attempt to make you wet yourself. Oooh, the bit where her hat is scraping the rock as she squeezes through... nasty.

And it's British. Speaking of which, what was your criteria? What weird, screwed up formula allowed Ginger Snaps (alright, it is good) in, but no American Werewolf in London? Or even Dog Soldiers (forerunner of The Descent) for that matter?

Welcome back, Rimmer!

I voted for The Descent because I haven't seen Evil Dead 2.

I wanted to welcome you back as well.,, and to ask a couple of things here.-
You didn't include Night of the Living Dead which to me when I watched it on video 25 years ago,(and older than any of the titles you have listed,) ,scared the crap out of me and it is and always has been the number one of any top ten list of scary nightmare type movies.. I know to say that in todays world., this B/W film today is probably laughable in ways,, but I could not sit through it in one sitting without this fear tingling all over my skin.. It was freaky then and I have never to this day experienced it again with any other films that are currently being played and produced these days.
To me those films are laughable..

and also wanted to ask if you were able to retrieve your registration key as I see you are still not registered above your name nor do you have any of your movies uploaded to the Invelos site for all to see..

Hands down "The Descent". "The Evil Dead 2", while a cool flick, is funnier than scary.
