| Posted: | | | | Since there still is no rule for the Country of Origin on Box Sets I came up with a couple of ideas of what we could use in that situation. I hope that the winner of this poll will be added to the rules so everybody clearly will know what to use. I would like to point out that with the first and second choice the CoO remains/has to be empty if this is not valid or possible. | | | Martin Zuidervliet

| Posted: | | | | I'm for Always empty / Not be included. The box sets are made in the country were they will be sold (most of the time). Only CoO for the movies inside. | | | Registered: July 7 2000 |

| Posted: | | | | I voted for always empty/not to be included. Box sets may contain movies with different CoO. So this information should be listed on disc/movie level. | | | Thorsten |

| Posted: | | | | Another for child level only; I've seen a few come through which I've tended to be Neutral on (or if I vote Yes because it's not against the Rules I add a comment to the effect I understood the general feel of the Forum, from previous discussions, was not to add it) but am happy to see the way the poll is going will hopefully mean this is accepted as a 'rule' even if it doesn't become a 'Rule' for a while! | | | It is dangerous to be right in matters where established men are wrong |

It's a silly piece of information for a cardboard box. It should just be at the child level, IMHO. Well, we DO use some information from the child level in box set profiles. The Rules for box sets say: Quote: Production Year Production Year for a Box Set should be the year of the earliest feature release in the set.
Running Time Use the combined running time of all the films in the Box Set; do not include running time of any extra features. As to the CoO I am in doubt, as sometimes it's different for each movie in the set. I say: leave it blank, or use the CoO of ALL the features if they all have the the same CoO. | | | -- Enry | | | Last edited: by White Pongo, Jr. |

| Posted: | | | | Maybe it would be an idea if box set profiles had non editable fields and the fields that where there auto filled in from the child profiles this would stop people trying to submit info that is not put in the profile and would also save the contribution's team a lot of unnecessary work. |

| Posted: | | | | If all the features are from the same CoO, I see no harm in including it for the box as well, otherwise leave it empty imho |

| Posted: | | | | I'm in favour of not including it in box set profiles. But then again I would also favour a rule change telling us not to include production years in box set profiles.
DVDP holds some data connected to the feature (e.g. cast, crew) and some data connected to the DVD release (e.g. release date, features etc.). Both CoO and production year clearly belong to the first category. IMHO data from the first category should be included in child profiles only (except in the case of TV box sets, given the present status quo). This would of course require a rule change. |

| Posted: | | | | I think it's about time this rule Quote: In addition to the above, the following are not included on the box set profile: Subtitles, Audio & Disc Features. List them with the individual profiles. is changed to Quote: In addition to the above, the following are not included on the box set profile: Country of Origin, Theatrical Release Studio(s), Production Company(s), Video Formats, Subtitles, Audio & Disc Features. List them with the individual profiles. | | | Martin Zuidervliet

I see your point but, on the flip side of the coin, if see no harm in having the Year of the oldest movie as Year of the box set, as per the Rules as they are now. I find that useful when I sort the Collection by Production Year. If we are going to change that Rule, anyway, then I would also like that DVDP could use the Year of the oldest feature when sorting box sets by Production Year. | | | -- Enry |

The problem with this is when people set up TV series as boxsets you should be entering the data in the boxset as well as the child profiles, however submitting the child profiles is perfectly allowable. Generally agreed except that it should be made clear that the production company of the boxset (ie the DVD distributor) is applicable to the parent profile, as is any booklet etc included in the Features that isn't part of the individual child profiles. | | | It is dangerous to be right in matters where established men are wrong | | | Last edited: by Voltaire53 |

| Posted: | | | | Personally, I don't think they should be included in parent profiles of box sets. It's a typical field for the child profiles and adds little to no valuable information in a parent profile (imo, it only adds confusion). | | | . · You are my center when I spin away. Yes, you're right. An additional line to make this clear would certainly help. | | | Martin Zuidervliet

| Posted: | | | | i also voted for always empty. and while we're at it, can Video Formats be re-instated into the list of info not to include in box sets in the rules: "In addition to the above, the following are not included on the box set profile: Subtitles, Audio & Disc Features. List them with the individual profiles." ...if that is still the case. Since this has fallen out i'm getting endless updates adding the video formats back into the parent profiles. thanks to the academy, my parents...(his parents? what did they ever do for you?), my second cousin on my sister's side of the family, and the great and powerful Thor... krik | | | "Vampirism is still not a disease, Julia.
