| Posted: | | | | The selective birth year submission system is now in place. When a contribution is made that includes birth years for cast/crew names which have not previously been accepted with a birth year, that entry will be listed at the bottom of the submission page in a check box list. If the checkbox is not checked, the birth year for that entry will be stripped for the submission. To submit the birth year, check the appropriate box and include supporting notes.
Note that the accepted birth year variant list has been cleared and will be populated starting now with accepted contributions. | | | Invelos Software, Inc. Representative |

Have you decided whether using the year we can document a first credit, for those cases where a BY cannot be obtained? It seems to be reasonable altenative for those cases.

Sounds ambiguous to me, but I am not a native English speaker (or American). Does "cleared" mean empty, or endorsed? We had a list of about 20 "accepted" variants. | | | Hans |

| Posted: | | | | To clarify, the list we have currently of accepted variants still don't require documentation, but they will show in the new birth year submission list until they are accepted in a profile from this point forward. | | | Invelos Software, Inc. Representative |

Any chance of having this list available to us? (BTW - Thanks for doing something about this ) | | | Last edited: by lyonsden5 |

| Posted: | | | | The system is designed so you don't need to worry about the accepted birth year entries - they will simply submit automatically. In parallel, if you have birth years you don't want to worry about submitting, do nothing and leave them unchecked - they will be stripped during submission automatically. If the entries have no other variants, this is what you'll want to do. You can even accept your submission locally and your birth years will be preserved, even though the online version does not have them. | | | Invelos Software, Inc. | Posted: | | | | What happens to your local db if you don't have a birth year for any Kevin Smith entry (example) and you accept an update which includes a Kevin Smith entry that has a birth year? Can you preserve your empty birth year?
What happens if you have a name with 1954 as the birth year and you also have that name with an empty birth year and then you accept an update with that name with a 1965 birth year? Will 1965 populate the other empty entries or will it set up a third variant? | | | ...James

Will 1965 populate the other empty entries or will it set up a third variant? It will set the birth year for the actor/actress/crew in the profile that is downloaded. If that is the empty one then it will add the birth year, if it's the 1954 one it will update it to 1965 (As far as i understand it...) |

| Posted: | | | | Nothing changed about how the birth years get populated when they come into your collection. It wont change birth years for cast/crew entries on other profiles, but it will add a birth year to those entries if they don't have one.
