| Posted: | | | | Does a credit for "sound effects design" qualify for a "sound designer" credit? I can just submit my preference and see what happens, but I'm afraid I'll get no-votes either way, so I'd like to have the results of this forumthread to point to. So please: whatever you all choose, try to agree... Note: in this particular case the "sound effects designer" is Eugene Gearty, al well-known (supervising) sound editor and sound designer - but I don't actually think that matters a lot in regards to my question. |

I agree, with the no-option. For the same reason as sound effects editor does not qualify as sound editor. |

I agree, with the yes-option. For the same reason as sound editor qualifies as sound effects editor (for me). How can you agree to a yes-vote when the rules clearly state to enter the crew AS CREDITED?! As long as there is "effects" involved they should NOT be entered in the profile! | | | Berak

| Posted: | | | | Personally, I can say that SOMETIMES I agree with Martin's point of view. Most of the time, I tend to leave out any "effects" editors (usually when they're listed among other subgroups of sound editors, like ADR editors and the like). But in some cases I just feel it's the same name for the same job, and then I include them. For instance: if supervising sound editor Robert Grieve is credited as "supervising sound editor" in 17 of my profiles, but he's credited as "supervising sound effects editor" in no. 18 (with no other sound editing credits on that one), then I'm pretty sure that his job on no. 18 was the same as on the other 17, and I leave him in. I understand that it's hard to catch that kind of "common sense" in a rule, but I CAN make that distinction... |

You even suggest to vote Yes on a contribution made with "effects" credits present!! Yes, I know. And I can suggest anything what I God damn please as well. I am not here to be some sort of judge, just to ventilate my opinion. I must be nuts to still do that, because many are only here to flame asses. But guess what, I don't care, I've got a thick skin. | | | Martin Zuidervliet

| Posted: | | | | While I agree that there really isn't any difference between Sound Effects crew and those sound crew members without the Sound Effects addition. But, DVD Profiler rules don't allow the other sound crew like Effects, ADR, and Folley to be entered.
Where is Schaumi to help answer some of these Sound Crew questions? | | | Are you local? This is a local shop the strangers you would bring would not understand us, our customs, our local ways. |
