| Posted: | | | | I've tried to update the cast of this DVD (EAN 8-714865-558508). The actor 'LeVar Burton' is spelled in the list as 'Levar' (lowercase 'V'). I know it should be spelled as 'LeVar'. Credits on this DVD are in all uppercase, so this is no help here. When you do a search on Google, only 'LeVar' comes up. When you look at other profiles with this actor, almost all where spelled 'LeVar'.
The strange bit is: the ones that weren't spelled correctly, I've fixed and contributed and almost all got accepted. Except this one (EAN 8-714865-558508). They had all near identical contribution notes. This one I've submitted twice and got two times 7 yes and no no votes.
Since no reason was given for the decline, can someone tell me what went wrong?

| Posted: | | | | There are two profiles under that EAN (Belgium and Netherlands). I checked them both and the role names of most of the cast are wrong. Did you make any corrections on those too?
What did you actually try to contribute? LeVar is already LeVar in both of those profiles. | | | Last edited: by Jykke |

| Posted: | | | | I also hate it when contributions are declined without any reason when you're having no No votes at all . But I guess it's just an error of the screener who sees hundreds of submissions passing by, I guess. |

| Posted: | | | | rvlier says he made a contribution to correct Levar to LeVar. Since the name already was correctly spelled, the screeners declined the contribution, despite the yes-votes.
Edit: I downloaded the profile, and it shows me LeVar. But that's because I already had his name spelled that way in my database. You can't have both spellings in your database. Therefore I take back what I wrote earlier, the name really is spelled as Levar in the online. | | | Last edited: by Jykke |

| Posted: | | | | I'm not 100% certain, but I'm thinking that the cast & crew database isn't case sensitive. I'm sure I've had problems in the past with capitalisation that doesn't seem to get picked up as a change. Maybe Ken or Gerri could clarify - would Levar and LeVar be seen as the same name depending on what is in the local database? |

| Posted: | | | | IIRC we had a huge debate about this over at IVS. Perhaps someone should head on over there and read up on it. I would, but since I don't care, I won't. |

| Posted: | | | | Updates with Capitalization changes do not get updated locally and will always show as needing updating. The only way to get these profiles to stop showing as needing updating is to manually edit the profile and change the capitalization yourself. I think this is a bug that must be addressed. | | | My WebGenDVD online Collection |

| Posted: | | | | I agree, 8Ball, it is simply an issue that the program in Cast and Crew (at least) does NOT recognize that there is a difference between Lower Case and Upper Case.

While the Preview will always show the difference, "Skip this Update" does remove it from the list of updated profiles, until the approved contribution comes along. | | | Achim [諾亞信; Ya-Shin//Nuo], a German in Taiwan. | Posted: | | | | Yipie, the contribution got accepted.
I guess 3 times is the lucky charm. I've made some additional changes to the cast (some roles from the end cridits where missing and I removed the abbreviations in the roes). Now it is accepted and released.
Thanks for the heads up.... Richard | | | Who is General Failure? And why is he reading my hard drive? |

Thanks for the heads up.... Richard To tell the truth: it's still not correct. The cast credits of that movie starts: Patrick Stewart as Picard Jonathan Frakes as Riker Brent Spiner as Data LeVar Burton as Geordi Michael Dorn as Worf ... There are no ranks or first names at all. "Captain Jean-Luc Picard" is incorrect, it's only "Picard" in the actual credits. Your contributions should still have been declined. |

I know, but even when the rules say to quote them as listed, it seems strange to me to list Patric Stewart as 'Picard' and not as 'Captain Jean-Luc Picard' etc. and I was afraid if I updated it, it would give a lot of 'No' votes. It almost seems like we need a 'credited as' for the roles: 'Captain Jean-Luc Picard credited as Picard' | | | Who is General Failure? Any such no-votes would have been a violation against the rules. Yep, you are right. I have updated this profile and the profile of EAN 8-714865-555026 (which have the same 'mistakes') and re-contributed those. If those are the rules, than this is how they should be listed.
