| Posted: | | | | It would be really helpful if we could get a reason for manual declines, i.e. declines where you got 0 negative votes. Most of the times, the decline seems to be unjustified, which is proven by the fact that when I resubmit later, it then is all of a sudden accepted. E.g. I again have a decline for a new profile: the profile itself is accepted, while the scans are not, but there is nothing wrong with the scans that I can think of and all my other scans were always accepted. So I'll just resubmit them later again. Yet, I can imagine that sooner or later I will have a genuine mistake and that my submission will be declined by Gerri. If I don't see why, I will probably just assume human error again and, not knowing what was wrong, just resubmit later. Surely this is something we could avoid, and would also prevent extra work from Gerri (and whoever else is releasing/declining the contributions). Obviously, I don't expect her/them to start typing a reason for every decline, but assuming that they use software to accept/decline, it could be as simple as replacing the single 'decline' button with an array of buttons with the most common reasons. |

I understand that. But what I was saying is that I then always do a resubmit later. If the decline was valid, then it will be declined again, so the screeners will do double work. A set of decline-with-reason buttons would probably be just as little work for them as a single decline button. Then again, seeing the same submission twice coming from stubborn people like myself, may be even less of an overhead. And if I see the same submission declined twice, I'll probably revert to the forum to figure out what was wrong . |

| Posted: | | | | I would agree with Repter. I have encountered the same problem. Sometimes a simple reason speaks volumes and if there is an error it can be corrected instead of just resubmitting a profile that is incorrect. This would be useful especially in the case where the profile is new and an error, if there is one, is not obvious. Surely having a selection of some of the most common errors as buttons to supply a reason would not make the screeners jobs harder? | | | <---------Mithrandir, Laverne and Shirley Caroline |

| Posted: | | | | I've got to agree - I've just had two contributions with all yes votes declined, so it's obvious a screener has looked at it and decided all the voters were wrong. But without any feedback no one has any idea what they've seen that I and all the voters missed! When I get home I'll resubmit, but there's always a doubt that maybe I'm submitting wrong info. |

There's more to it than just ticking a button with a generic reason. Ken will have to do some layout redesign to accommodate showing the reason. | | | John

Skip I agree with you Skip, but when you have all Yes votes an no No votes and it is still declined you have to wonder whats going on. |

| Posted: | | | | I'm not sure how helpful a reason for decline would be. Most of the time, mine don't get declined. I will admit that I haven't contributed much in the past year or so but even when I was contributing more, I usually already knew the reason for any declined profiles I received. Still, there were a few......
I will say that there are a few reasons I don't contribute like I once did. One is that I got frustrated over the several modifications to the DB and each time there was a modification my entire db would have to be re-contributed. Now that we are to a better level on the db than before, it seems more worth-while but what happens when the crew section is opened up so that more categories can be entered? Why not open it up so that all crew can be entered as-credited and be done? At least we'll see an end to these incessant debates of who did what and it fits over there, not here.
The other big reason is; (I generally don't contribute any popular titles because of this alone) there tends to be too many lengthy and tiresome debates over small details and several people jump in even if it doesn't effect their db.
The one that pushes me away the most is: Why is it that just because someone does not want some bit of information, they feel that nobody else should either? | | | Dan |

| Posted: | | | | The only decline reason I'd like to see is when a cover scan gets declined.
For data on the DVD, you can usually make out what went wrong, and if not, people in the forums are knowledgeable enough to offer insight.
But the cover scans.... I've had cover scans contribution that were declined where the voting was 10+ yes to 1 no, and the no only said "prefer existing". I'd like to know what pushed the screener to push that decline button when the vote was mostly yes.
Not that I really mind it though. I usually contribute, check the votes a little, but declined or not, I don't really mind. I have my data locally, and make regular backup. So what if my contribution doesn't get through. |

I just did a refresh of the profiles, and to my big surprise my own scans were included so they must have been released. In my own contribution overview it however says Declined. So I wonder if it just isn't a glitch in the screening software ? |
