| Posted: | | | | Ok, all bets for the summer blockbuster season are now off. Nobody's got a chance against this judging by the latest Transformers trailer. It's been a very long time since a trailer made my jaw drop as far as this. Now it's a torturous wait! It'll probably turn out to be rubbish. Hang on. Robots? In disguise? Rubbish? Impossible! Please excuse me while I disappear into the loft. I'm sure I've still got an Optimus Prime in there somewhere ... | | | Jon "When Mister Safety Catch Is Not On, Mister Crossbow Is Not Your Friend."

Steve That's gonna take some time: US theatrical release is July 4, for the UK July 27. Expect the DVD about 3-6 months later |

| Posted: | | | | I've always been a huge Transformers fan, and I must say, I've been trying very hard not to get too excited about the movie. Hoever, if the trailer is as good as the movie gets, then... well... I'm still impressed. |

| Posted: | | | | I don't want to sound anti-american, but what's the bet that Michael Bay has a lingering shot of the heroine looking pensive with the stars & stripes fluttering in the background? |

| Posted: | | | | I was excited about this movie....until I saw that Bay was attached. And every single shot I've seen of the Autobots and Decepticons has furthered that feeling of disappointment. They look like some kind of Bionicle rip-off, and that's not a good thing. Yeah, I understand that the story and designs had to be modernized and that the original designs left a lot to be desired, and that the physics of the cartoon designs were impractical.... But Starscream looks like a mass of barbwire..."
The wife and I have decided that we won't be seeing this movie. I hope the movie does well, I really do, but it won't have my $20... | | | I was wise once; when I was born, I cried - Welsh proverb |

I'll be at the first showing. | | | "I am Andrew Ryan and I am here to ask you a question: Is a man not entitled to the sweat of his own brow?

I rejected those answers. Instead, I chose something different. I chose the impossible. I chose… Rapture." |

| Posted: | | | | Michael "I want to be Jim Cameron" Bay's Transformers should be entertaining enough. At least he's not trying to make another semi-serious film (*caugh*TheIsland*caugh*). | | | Erik

| Posted: | | | | Well, the story really doesn't provide too much in depth, originally being a cartoon series aimed at kids.
So, this opens the flood gates for very impressive CGI and SFX, and if the trailer didn't blow everything (I seriously doubt that and hope I'm not wrong), then I'm definitely in for a treat. I'll watch that one in the theater, for sure.
I like what I see, and as long as it's not too story ridden (as was the case with Spielbergs's War of the Worlds), it's probably going to be a lot of fun. | | | Lutz |

When I was a kid, the must have toys were Transformers and Zoids. I never really saw the cartoon, apart from the movie. Most of the appeal for me was the comics. It had a lot of heart, and was as good as any other comic. If they focus on a story like that it should be good. If they don't, it's still got bloomin' great robots taking chunks out of each other! Empire interviewed Michael Bay and he said he was surprised by the great reaction to the trailer, because he was bored with it! He's been working on it for so long, he'd forgotten the rest of us hadn't seen them. He promises this is a rare case of a trailer not including money shots. And we haven't heard them speak yet. That is very important ... | | | Jon "When Mister Safety Catch Is Not On, Mister Crossbow Is Not Your Friend."
