"Complete Series/Season & Anthologies of Episodes – List all Cast Members for a TV Series appropriately. Use the Divider feature to indicate episode divisions.
Individual profiles for each disc may be submitted if desired, but this is not required. Add these profiles to the box set contents of the parent profile. When submitting a change to an existing TV series profile that is currently a box set, do not remove the existing contents.
In either case, the cast and crew are to be entered into the parent profile using appropriate episode dividers."
So, where do you prefer the cast/crew to be located in? The parent or child profiles or both?
Personally I like them in the parent profile. That way I can have them all in one profile. Also I don't need to download the child profiles (with all the TV series there are likely hundreds of child profiles) since these child profiles take up more room. | | | | Last edited: by CubbyUps |

What I found interesting recently is, that many child profile for TV exist (apprx. 70% of my TV collection are available), but they seem not to be treated very well. Missing running times, no cast or crew, etc., in many of them... I wonder what the original supporters of TV child proifiles actually use them for.... 1. I personally HATE huge long lists of cast/crew on a profile
2. This gives a more correct total of how many DVDs I have with a certain actor.
3. If I am looking for a certain episode with a particular person in it... it automatically takes me to the exact DVD they are in... then I only have a handful of episodes to look through to find the episode of that particular actor. | | | | Pete |

I only had child profiles for things that are in a different case.
So a set with 6 dvd's in a digipak is 1 profile for me.
Where as a 6 disc set in 3 slim cases is 4 profile boxset, but I want everything in the parent. I only go down to the individual case, not the disc.
It's funny years ago, before dvdprofiler had the ability to track multiple disc sets, I used to add every dvd to my collection for my dvd changers. At the time lots of people told me I was doing it wrong. Now that's the right way. How things change, and not for the better if you ask me. | | |

I see a lot that will have to be worked on... right not I am working on Charmed Season 6. Hopefully it won't be too long for all the profiles getting up to date... but I think some people are more in a rush to get the child profiles into the database... then worry about getting them all right. | | | | Pete |

| | Posted: | | | | Personally, I tend to prefer the Parent profile only as that does not inflate the count and I tend to count collections as a single item for numbers purposes. I agree that it makes the child profiles too onerous where there are large collections, but where the set has covers per disc/couple of discs I do like to be able to see this information, although that is not critical.
I do, however, like what Addicted had to say as this does become a problem for collections where there are more than 2 discs in the collection, especially if there are more than 4 or 5 episodes per disc.
I currently have a mix of both methods in my collection and have not yet decided which to retain as I have not yet gone through these profiles for correctness. | | | <---------Mithrandir, Laverne and Shirley

It means all you have to do is add the boxset UPC to get all the relevant info about your series without having to load in 6 or 7 discs to find the child profiles. |

1. This is DVD Profiler, not <Insert Title> Profiler. Child profiles contain data about the disc and its contents. The master profile should contain only what applies to the entire set.
2. I also hate long cast and crew lists.
3. There is actually very little extra overhead in the system.
