| Posted: | | | | Greetings: How about a field that gives the time of the layer change on DL discs, if it's perceptable. I suppose I could put in under the notes, but it would be a nice-to-have. Then again, I'd probably have to go back and watch all my movies again. (It's always intimidating being a newbie. I don't know what's been talked about before. I don't want rock any boats. ) Rink | | | Kittens give Morbo gas. |

Rink Chances are you will rock somebody's boat if you continue to post around here. A preemptive word of advice, don't take it personally. There are some here who enjoy gobbling up new people, especially if they ask a question that has been asked before. Not sure why. They get some kind of pleasure out of it I guess. Must have small [censored] or something Welcome. FWIW, I can't recall this ever being requested in the 4 years I've been around, though I could be wrong. | | | Last edited: by lyonsden5 |

Rink Interesting idea, but I would say unless Profiler is able to read it itself while reading the disc info, it's going to be too hard for people to work out themselves at home. Actually, that's just made me think of a request of my own - how about when we put a disc in, it not only reads the disc info, but if we tell it which title to look at, it also tells us audio layers, subtitles etc.? The info I believe is readily available in the IFO file and it would stop incorrect submissions. |

Not to mention that many high-end decks are fast enough to miss the pause altogether. Rick, I don't gobble up newbies only fingers and toes sometimes. I can't see very many of us sitting, watching and making note of where the layer change is IF the machine reflects it. I know for sure I wouldn't, nor can I figure why I would even be interested. | Posted: | | | | I very rarely notice the layer changes on my discs. And I have a cheap player. I also question what value this brings. And I think it would be a chore to enter this data. On the other hand, it would give Skip something to do for the next few months. | | | Get the CSVExport and Database Query plug-ins here. Create fake parent profiles to organize your collection. |

| Posted: | | | | The problem with this is that these times may vary depending on your player, so there may not be anything like a universal "time of layer skip". As a result it could only be a personalized variable. Perhaps you could use the "tags" feature to record the times of layer skips on your player. |

I now understand that you are referring to the point within a movie where the layer change occurs. That should be universal (although it might be different for different editions, so it would be important to make sure that you're measuring this for the same edition that's in the central Invelos database). Personally, I would not be using a feature like this. As long as it's not in the programme, you can use tags to record the layer skip times in your collection. |

| Posted: | | | | no... don't see tags being an answer for him... but as he said... he could use the notes section. I personally don't see this as a viable addition to the program. | | | Pete |

Rink in order to see if it is viable - how about you enter the information for the 433 films that you have in your collection into the notes. When you have done that then you can give everyone an estimate of time taken etc so we can have a proper estimate for the full 200,000 plus profiles (so far) in the current Invelos database which will enable us to consider with a cost benefit analysis. | | | Paul | | | Last edited: by pauls42 |

I'll get right on that request for a cost benefit analysis.

reason other than it being useless info? you can't find out the timecode fast enough to make it part of a full audit. Currently you can do a full audit quick, without even having seen the movie. This would be the first field you can't verify without actually watching the whole movie or searching for quite a while (unless there's a tool that does it I don't know of yet). That's not a line I would like to see crossed, seriously. | | | - Jan |

| Posted: | | | | To be honnest I really don't see why I would want to know that. If however for some reason it was added to the database it could also be used to indicate the time in the movie when you have to get up and flip the disc for those old flippers.
It would allow a much better planning of the next round of pop-corn and soft drinks during a movie. | | | My 4x4 Club: Club FJ Cruiser Quebec DVDP Français: Forum DVD Profiler Français DVDCOL:DVD Collectors Online Video: LG RU-42PX10 Audio: Sony DreamSystem DAVFX100W | | | Last edited: by Touti |
