It's just a matter of keeping them local, and not contributing those to the online database, as they are not "true" DVDs.

| | Posted: | | | | I don't think it's an accusation Karsten. If the person is doing the question, it means that he/she doesn't know the procedure. And that information of non-contribution is (an important) part of the procedure. The reply wouldn't be complete without it.
And it's better to give the info right away than wait and see if the person (naively) will contribute it or not so that you can ask Ken/Gerri to remove it from the DB. Or at least giving extra work to Gerri on having to invalidate/refuse that contribution.
Of course if we had said something along the lines of "*Don't you even think to contribute it to the OnlineDB!!!*" that would have been annoying and not nice all around. But I don't think that has been the case with any of the replies.

| | Posted: | | | | I personally have re-captured all of my home movies of my children and my grandchildren from VHS to DVD. I either used manual dvd numbers or suedo UPC numbers. They are in my local db and in my online profile listing. I would never even consider trying to contribute them to the main db primarily because they are of interest only to me. If you are interested in how the profiles look, just look at my online listing. The ones in the top of the listing that are titled "Cody this and Cody that' are of my grandson. I have authored them with chapter selection and did a quite nice jacket and disc label for them. | | | NightHawke

I'm using a copy of 2.5 for them, and do the profiles using DISC ID. Works exactly the same as a commercial disc. | | | John

I indend to enter them into my collection's profiler local database, but there is no reason at all for me to submit these profiles into the main Ivelos Profiler database, because no one else gets one!

Also, when adding them I used the EAN for the dvd version of the program - if this existed - so I get all the updates etc for them.. Also, I've added a tag just for home recorded stuff so I can easily separate them out..  | | | | Paul |
