| | Posted: | | | | Hi All, I just updated my "A Bridge to Far" with actor Colin Farrell 1938. Nice  But Now all of my other movies with Colin Farrell list the one from 1938  I am correcting all of my young Colin Farrell locally to Colin Farrell 1976....  Just wanted to give you all an update so that you can correct yours. Maybe someone could also contribute the corrects. Sorry that I can't.... I collect actor Birth Years along with head shots so that mean I am no longer able to submit cast information  | | | Premium member since 29 August 2002 ----

Check out the cast section and see if 1938 is behind his name then check other Colin Farrell movies to see if they picked up the 1938 Birth Year. I fixed all of mine like this: 1. Created a new actor Colin Farrell 1976 2. Filtered all tiltes with BOTH Colin Farrells selected and in OR condition. 3. [Ctrl] + [e] on one of the 1976 movies. 4. go to cast selction 5. selected the "incorrect" Colin Farrell 1938 in the right side list 6. click "Find Cast Member" (now you have can see both Colin's on the Left side 7. select the "correct" Colin on the left side 8. Click the "Replace" button 9. then OK Lastly, if you do NOT have any "non-necessary"  Birth Years added in to these profiles, be nice and contribute  | | | Premium member since 29 August 2002 ----

Headshots don't affect the main db, so that's fine. Contribute profiles all you want. If you collect birth years when they aren't necessary to separate 2 names, you'll get shot down in the voting. The 'unnecessary' birth years are against the rules. If you link names, you can get shot down in the voting for (1) insufficient proof that they're the same person or (2) no agreement on what the common name should be. Many feel that they shouldn't be contributed at all until further rules are revealed by Invelos. | | | ...James

I am confused because I do both now. no....... you are OK I can not contribute because I also add Birth Year to my cast members.... Even when he/she is one of a kind... I like the extra added information. Sine the Rules say only contribute Birth Years when absolutely necessary. But since their are two Colin Farrell ( 1938 & 1976) it is a necessary submission..... It's not too bad if the more famous one gets populated first, but it can get to be a nuisance fixing them all if the less famous one with fewer film roles ends up controlling all of the titles with the actor with the larger filmography.
I'd suggest the following if this happened to you: edit Colin Farrell (1938) to be Colin Farrell (1976) if you don't have the 1976 in your database yet. That should make all of your Colin Farrells the more famous one. Then pick out the 1938 one's titles and change those, which should be relatively fewer unless you're a big Colin 1938 fan. Yes, this is the smarter way....
