I had trouble having both PCs using the same OneDrive stored database, even at different times. I kept getting multiple entries in the database folder, so I moved both databases to their respective local drives. This seemed the safest thing to do. Of course now I will have to sync up the slave PC using the online database, just as I used to do with my iPad.

Thanks. I'll be careful not to run DVDProfiler on both PCs at the same time and only sync my iPad to the "master". Of course when I decide to switch "master" PCs I assume I can then start syncing my iPad to the new "master". Correct?
My original "master" PC has a serious problem and I need to reformat its hard disk. I was hesitant to do this until I had another PC with DVDProfiler running since both PCs are actually iMacs running Bootcamp.

I have added a second PC (iMac running Bootcamp) running DVDProfiler to my home network, anticipating eventually switching over to it. What is the best way to sync them and my iPad up? The two PCs seem to be using the same OneDrive cloud storage.

Just installed 17.6.1. No changes noticed from 17.5. 18 may be another story. Keep your fingers crossed.

In addition, make sure you typed the server name in properly on your iPad. It is at the bottom of the Windows DVDProfiler window. You can use the IP address instead, which is also at the bottom of the window. Try them both. One may work while the other won't.

Check your iPad DVD Profiler settings and make sure "local network" is switched on.

Also make sure your Windows PC local network is set to PRIVATE. See below on how to do this.

You have to have the Windows version of DVD Profiler running on your PC before you can sync to it from the iOS version.
In the Windows version, select "Synchronize with DVD Profiler Mobile" in the File menu and follow the diections.

Big mistake! Since the new server was installed, iOS upload doesn't work properly. You have three alternatives:
1. Wait and hope they will fix this,
2. Get the Windows version running on a PC or Intel Mac,
3. Switch to another app. See link below.

Check out this forum link for a recent discussion on DVD Profiler alternatives for iOS users.

I generally agree with you but since I primarily use my iPad at home and my iPhone while shopping, I have little choice but to search for a potential alternative iOS app. I'll keep using DVD Profiler as long as it keeps working in iOS, but I'm not willing to bet the farm that it is still usable after the iOS 18 upgrade. In addition, since Invelos recently screwed up syncing iOS devices to the online database, I worry that Invelos might also screw up syncing iOS devices to the PC version.
On a related note, by working with the other iOS app developers who want to court DVD Profiler users, we have a chance they will change their apps so as to make them more attractive to us. For example, MyMovies modified their import function.

I just started to play with CLZ Movies, but I suspect this will take some time to evaluate. While the import issues are very important, the app interfaces and usabilities are even more so. Each of these apps, DVD Profiler, MyMovies, iCollectMovies, MovieBuddy and CLZ Movies, have very different user interfaces and features, which will take some time to adjust to in order draw a conclusion. There are also the issues of their pricing structures and active support on the various platforms.
I would hope that other DVD Profiler users, particularly iOS users, are looking at them as well and will provide comments here. Sadly, let's face it, DVD Profiler, while a great app, does not have a bright future. As the organization previously known as the Boy Scouts used to say, "Be prepared".

I'm still having issues with Box Sets in MyMovies, but I'm actively working with MyMovies to better understand Box Set import issues. This might take a few weeks to sort out, but I have to say they have been very responsive. I'll keep you posted.

That sounds pretty desperate. Better to find a friend with a PC that will download DVD Profiler for you.

I just downloaded MyMovies' Mac app. It seems nicer than their iOS app but sadly they are not planning to update it. They instead are relying on their iOS app being able to run on Apple Silicon. I haven't tried their Windows apps.

Probably not. This is not an issue with iOS 17.5.1 but rather with the new Invelos server.

MyMovies tech support has modified their import code to address the lack of complete purchase info. I tested it out and imported my library again and it seems to work properly now. I'll play with it some more looking for other import issues, but for now I would recommend others give it a try. I've found their tech support to be very responsive. The more info they get from DVD Profiler users, the better off we will all be, especially iOS users. iOS 18 is coming in a few months and I would be surprised if DVD Profiler still works useably.
On a related note, I feel bad for iOS users who don't have access to the Windows version. Invelos should offer them a data export service. I'm sure most iOS users would pay a modest fee for that.

I just got this response from MyMovies relating to how they handle box sets:
As DVD Profiler, we support box sets with child titles – where a box set contains of a parent title with child titles – we cannot create matches on the child titles imported from DVD Profiler because the child titles do not have identifiers, but when we import the parent title with child titles from our service, the result is typically the same – we ignore the child titles that DVD Profiler has for the title, and instead add the parent with an information to include the child titles we have in our service. This basically means that you almost always will get the same result, but, there can be situations where a title is only created as a parent title in our service, in which case you will not get the child titles, and similar it can be that there are titles for which DVD Profiler also only have a parent title, where you could get a full box set from our service. The handling of box sets is very similar though.

In regards to TV Series, there is a difference in handling, but you will also here get a match to the profiles in our service, where we typically have more TV Series data than DVD Profiler – each profile in our service have informations on which TV Series it is, and which episodes it contains. This information is available on the details page in the apps, where you can see details of the TV Series, and the episodes contained within the profile. We are not importing that data from DVD Profiler, but when a title is matched to a profile in our service, you get the TV Series data we have for it – again here, there can be a difference in so that we potentially can have a title that does not hold the TV Series data, where there can be titles that does hold it, where it did not in DVD Profiler.

The import can with our approach never be a complete 1:1 conversion, as we specifically match your profiles to our service, giving you the benefits of the features we can provide with it, including the option of getting profile data updates when other users contribute to the data.

I just retried importing into My Movies after running DVD Profiler Repair and then exporting selecting everything but Easter Eggs and crew. It went relatively well with a few burps but while it imports the purchase place, it still doesn't import the purchase date or price. Bummer! I passed this info on to them and am awaiting a reply.
On a positive note, I've found their tech support to be very responsive.

Just heard back from iCollectMovies. Unfortunately they only import CSV files. On a positive note, however, they use barcodes so I'll give the XML to CSV conversion process another try.

After working with the MyMovies rep, I was able to import my library.
The iPad interface is very different and will take some time to get used to. My first impression is negative but that could change as I play with it.  It successfully imported my notes and movie provider (that's good), but did not import the date purchased or the price paid (that's bad). While initially limited to 50 titles, it will be difficult will be difficult to form an opinion, particularly for boxed sets. However they do offer 2 week and 1 month free trials, which I may give a try. They are a bit pricey after that, charging $15/year for iOS only and $40/year for iOS/Mac/PC.

Still waiting for feedback from iCollectMovies.

I just used the same XML export file to attempt an import into iCollectMovies and MyMovies.

The MyMovies import website didn't work at all in Safari and resulted in a cryptic error message in FireFox.  I reported it and am waiting for feedback from MyMovies.

I haven't yet heard back from iCollectMovies. I'll keep you posted.
